    watching the pics from waterford on their jolly day out, i was looking for richard bruton, not a sign of him to be seen, am i wrong, if i am right then what are the implications for this country, also do we congratulate e.kenny on the loss of two of the best and articulate buisness minds in fg, richard bruton and george lee.

    He's better off without George Lee as he had no staying power anyway. He took the easy option and headed back to be cosseted at RTE. As for Bruton, he's the only chance FG have. He needs to overthrow Kenny fast or else FG will head into Govt at the next election and get booted out again as quick as before.

    maybe he wasn't there, did he have to be, maybe he had tootache, a child graduating from something etc etc.
    They have an economic policy, why would the former Finance Spokesman have to be there to discuss it.

    As for George, well I think he's better of in RTE, although I'm not sure if RTE is better off with him. He doesn't seem to have had much knowledge of what he was letting himself in for, even though he'd been a journalist for a decade or so, albeit a financial one.

    Perhaps the whole George Lee matter was a cunning plot to destabilise FG.

    He obviously was not a team player, had caused uneasiness amongst their current line-up of economic spokesmen. If they got into power he would probably have behaved like Noel Browne and walked out at some point.

    FF now have the added bonus that his doleful voice is no longer on RTE news detailing the most recent economic bad news.

    It's sad really. Since Garrett Fitz stepped down as leader FG have, in the main, tried to out FF Fianna fail.

    They should have stuck to their roots and principles . It's not as if the natural gombeen man FF supporter or rabid IRA republican was ever going to vote for them in any case.

    This is evidenced by some of the current crop of FG elected representatives such as Deasy.

    FG need to forget trying being all things to all men and get back to the principles of decency, honesty and honour that sustained them over the years!

    Yes, from a political perspective of course he had. In comparison to his political opponents in FF at the time he probably qualified for sainthood;)

    However, my argument is that FG have diminished their stature and lost support by tyring to appeal to a broader base than their traditional support base, both historical and socioeconomic.

    No one in FG has those traits. Especially Cosgrave and John Unionist.

    and who was the one who most aimed to broaden the parties appeal and who more or less ignored the parties traditional base and values , thats right , garrett fitz
