As a boring creature of habit, I always bought a scratch card every tuesday lunchtime with my tuna and sweetcorn roll. Imagine my surprise (after 2 years with only a handful of maybe a free card) i scratch off a 1000 winner ! I think I am still down on the deal as i normally go for the 2 euro ones.

    Anyone ever hit anything ?

PS Lovely "warm" feeling in my sky as I left the GPO with 50s in numerical order :D:D

Some people have "on-the-scratcher" cards that pay out over €200 every single week.

Think the most I have ever won is something like €25, I'm quite jealous.

    Congrats.

You are behind the times, It was 204 euro now only 196, Recession and all that. Even worse if you are under 21...Only 100 euro. Still better than UK where I think its only about 80 per 2 weeks.

2 Guys in apt below me, both on welfare, Nice people, takeaways delivered on average 4 times a week. I could live on the leftovers from their bin !

Yeah - but they get their rent paid, grant aid for flat screen televisions, free Sky Sports, tax free hookers, cocaine on the medical card & discounts on alloy wheels over 15".

So overall, it's more than €200.

Well it's true. I forgot to mention too that if you are a foreign national, you also get free mobile phone calls, a new car every two years and free ice-cream in any flavour you want.

I was on my way to a friend/acquaintance's 21st before and was a bit late in buying the present. I had budgeted €20 as a present to give to him but it was pissing rain and I was like "fook this, I will get a taxi and give him €10 worth of scratchcards instead!". I nipped in to the shop, slammed the €20 on the counter and asked for 5 scratch-cards, got the €10 back and hopped in the taxi patting myself on the back for a job well done.

Two days later I get a text from the birthday lad in question. Jammy bastard made a €1000 on one card and €100 on another card! That was my luck reserves for the next lifetime depleted and I used it for someone else. That will teach me to be a cheap-skate.

That explains a lot. I was wondering where all the women had gone, why my fridge is always empty & where the furniture went to.

I've a feeling this may be a lie. The Checksum shouldn't allow this to happen! You either have duds or you haven't checked the numbers at all!

    Or I am wrong, but I don't think I am! :D

A taxi driver once told me they get free socks as well.

I won €500 before, it put my scratch card tally at +590 I deduct what I pay out from what I win! Went straight from the GPO to vodafone across the street and bought my iPhone!!!
Trick is go for the €3 ones aka bingo/crossword...etc they have a 1 in3.9 odds where the €1/2 ones have a 1 in 7!

Lol, there is a trick to winning?
And here I was thinking that this was just another way of taxing the lower class.

Never mind winning €1000 on a scratchcard. What I want to know is why does starbelgrade keep wimmins in his fridge?

National Lottery company marketing thread is markety.

    Also:

Sigh... Trick is not wasting your money on scratch cards that represent an awful proposition every time! Trick is a high-yield savings account, as exciting as that is...

    €2 x 52(Tuesdays in a year) = 104 x 2 years = 208. 1000 - 208 = 792

    So you're up. Grats!
