2.2 software update? wtf

got a msg on phone....would you like to download software etc to 2.2
said yes and its still downloading 1 and a half hrs later....is this normal?

If its the full 2.2 update, it could be 90+ megs. If you aren't downloading via WiFi (or your 3G connection is slow), then it could take a while.

If you are downloading over your mobile connection, I hope you have a data package....

Stab in the dark here but I'd wager it's the update for froyo about 90mb (I think) if you're anyhing but wifi it'll be very slow. I think I was prompted how big the file was and how it was recommended to download via wifi.

Do you have a desire?

thanks lads, ya have a desire and its showing full wi-fi signal but still taking this long? have to leave the house soon so will it be possible to switch to data bundle without interupting download so it can continue to do whatever its doing?

I think you can pause the download but I'm not 100% certain. It does take some time as the phone reboots and installs 2.2. I suppose you could pause it by turning on airplane mode.

If you're off your wifi it will still continue to download on your data bundle automatically.

Make sure you have a decent charge on your phone too. It'd be a balls if it ran out mid-update.

ta lads, your all stars!! i always have data enabled so that if i'm off wifi it will kick in so i won't do anything for now and see what happens....phone had 50% battery left so hopefully ok. thanks again. I'll be back if theres trouble.;)

well, said i'd be back!!! no joy....update unsuccessfull! trying again now with phone in the desk top charger so we'll see in the morning if its downloaded or not!!

I recently bought a Legend and am still getting my head around it tbh. Can anyone tell me when this 2.2 update will be available for me?

Also, I am interested in rooting my phone, what do I need to check before going ahead to make sure my software is compatible with the rooting process?

Nop I went home excited and tried it for the update but no such luck. Can't wait to get this phone unlocked and jump ship.
