Simple question really (sorry if its been asked before).

Anyone know if Sky have any plans to offer a BB package with their TV, just like UPC's packages. I would imagine there would be a huge transfer to Sky if they did start offering this.

    Thanks.

Think again: a major appeal of UPC's broadband is not that they also offer TV, it is that their broadband is one of the fastest in the State, plus does not require an eircom phone line (with the ridiculous 25€/month rental). In fact, it is the reverse which is true: people stick with UPC's television because their broadband makes it worth it.

Sky can NEVER mirror this. Why? While they can offer broadband, they are at the same limitation as virtually everyone else: eircom landlines. They don't own any suitable infrastructure with which to deliver broadband (unlike UPC). So UPC will always have the advantage in that they fully control their broadband infrastructure.

Also you're posting in the cable forum for what should be either in the Broadband forum, or the Sattelite forum

They won't offer it and there wouldn't be a huge switchover..
