Piste The Road is an amazing film, it's bleak but I loved it. Vigo Mortensen was great.

    IT SMELLS LIKE CANDY FLOSS!

The mother's getting worried because to her it appears that I am constantly sniffing pictures of Katy Perry from the insert-booklet thingy.

They have a similar cape on ASOS and I am so tempted!

I'm kind of worried I'll look like a weirdo in a cape though :p

Seconding this. Not too keen on getting a netbook. (I mightn't even have €500 though :( I hate being poor.)

I just got my grubby hands on this today:

I have one of those Acer netbooks that Timbuk2 has, and it was €270 in PC World. 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive - get an external hard drive (which most people will have regardless of how big your laptop's HD is) and it's all you'll need. It's definitely more handy to get a small one (I got used to the 'smallness' within a day or so) - bigger laptops being better is a bit of a scam, imo. The netbook will definitely suffice for facebook, itunes and photos - can do everything any other laptop does! Plus the portability and battery life (8 hours!) is brilliant.

That's reassuring! Only thing that really worries me is the smallness and whether or not I'd get used to it. I have these visions of myself squinting at a tiny screen and giving myself migraines. :p

It doesn't, and I believed this would be an issue as well - but it hasn't been at all. Discs are an outdated format, and I doubt people will be using them at all soon - too awkward. USB sticks, SD cards - that's where we're headed now. What do you need a CD drive for, really? Everything can be downloaded and found (yes, legally as well!) internally now. I know it's a pity for DVDs, CDs, etc. but there are so many other ways to get around it. CD drives are too big and clunky, not many of the smaller laptops are bothering with them anymore.

Yeah, I thought this would be me as well:p - I had a much bigger laptop before it, and it definitely was a... drastic change at first, but like I said, only very briefly. I was concerned because I have these whale-ish fat fingers and the keyboard's tiny, but you do adjust!:P

You can get external ones that work via USB if needs be. I have that same acer notebook and haven't ever needed to use a CD drive during college.

What I will say is this: Lads, don't buy a Toshiba Satellite Pro. We've had it for just over a year, and somehow, it manages to be the slowest machine going.
    AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

(yes, it runs Windows XP. I'm not sure how much of the problem that is. Yes, I will eventually install some linux distro on it or something)
