UMP is beastly. Got extended mags for today and use it with lightweight. It will still drop people in 3 bullets with lightweight.

I find the UMP 45 completely overused and imbalanced. I certainly don't consider it a noobish gun though and with Silencer and Stopping Power it is godly but it really gets to me when the entire enemy team uses it

Thanks for the heads up, I used to use the P90 because of the large mags, but the UMP pisses all over it!

In defense of the UMP: no HBS, no noobtube, has some manageable recoil, has maximum mobility, 30 bullet clip should be 3 kills with shots to spare core. For hardcore - silenced it's one bullet kill to anywhere in upper body over any distance, and it's first bullet accurate everytime. Excellent iron sights, walls effectively (with or without FMJ), in-game and in reality the successor to the mp5 (without the K), and it's commonly used, so w/out scavenger you've still a chance of finding ammo during the game. Every time you prestige it's right there on First Recon default class from rank 1.

This gun is versatile and ubiquitous - hardly grounds for complaint.

What's the best attachment for it? I don't like the silencer because it reduces distance. Is there any point in equiping rapid fire?

Rapid fire increases the recoil. I'd advise having a go with the silencer anyway. It doesn't make a big enough difference not to use it. You can still "snipe" with the silencer with 4 tap shots.

3 of my classes have the UMP in it.. One silenced, On with holographic sight, other with scope.. Dont use scope that much only on derailed really. Love it

Have the people who claims that it recoils actually played with it? It can kill from borderline sniper ranges and get kills before the sniper even gets a chance to go downscope. A sub machine gun shouldn't be so good long range. There are 4 or 5 guns that should either be weakened slightly, or recoil added to and it would make the game 10 times better imo...

Very true, saying that though the Vector(as I can testify as a regular user) and the P90 can you snipe with also. Albeit nowhere near as good as the UMP.

UMP is the equivalent of the M16 in COD4, way overpowered. I've no problem people using it, its just that it sees 9/10 people are using it.. all a bit tiresome now.

But if i run around a corner and find myself face to face with a guy with an AR i'm f*cked.... its the chance i take... sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't

I use the UMP alot, it's such a beast of a gun I don't see why I wouldn't use it. I use it with a silencer, Marathon Pro, Cold Blooded Pro and Ninja Pro, and do rather well on small to mid sized maps with it. Although I used it on Wasteland last night and went something like 30-7, which goes to show it's pretty versatile.

i use the UMP quite a lot , only to fit in , so many other people use it.... i gave into peer pressure....

when everyone starts using M4's ill be on that band wagon aswell....

id be a flanker myself when using that class and i usually dont have issues with running into people with ar's . i think its a case of you being so much faster than normal that you appear in area where players dont expect you . like in highrise the other day first thing i did is run underground and came out while they where all still in the building . got a multi kill with my knife took out the ump and minced 3 more guys when they came back . then i ran into my own semtex

The UMP is great for Sabotage and S&D, if you have lightweight on as well you can make it to the bombsite in seconds, was playing Sabotage on Wasteland last night, the bomb is in the underground bunker, I made it there, double backed out the same entrance with the bomb, and to the enemy site as they were setting up to defend, won the game in less than 3 mins

I wouldnt say overpowered cause that implies that all its features are unbalanced, I think the damage is too high off it but considering its ROF and recoil its not overpowered.

I mean anything over 30 or so foot and the recoil is horrific, you constantly need to be judging distance to target and switching between fulll auto, burst and single fire to be effective.

In CQC if your connection is good a spas has the same effective range with higher damage, in long range a famas or m16 / m4 is better for mid range the m4 or ak is better.

The '45 is good but its a difficult gun to use as you constantly need to concentrate on your targets distance and your trigger controll.

I should just point in my head at least, that a try hard in MW2 is usually some one who dropshots like some sort of MLG pro with a gun namely the UMP. That does my head in admittedly as you see players go around dropshotting continuous which is beyond tedious. People use the gun for a reason and it's not entirely for the reason to win as such.

Obviously the fact that it is overly used is another factor as I'm sure I've mentioned that in this thread before.

For many people the UMP is seemingly the only gun they really use, and while I can understand why... I don't like it. It surely must be tedious using the same gun over and over and over again? I would have thought that.

Hilarious.

A try hard is someone who puts winning ahead of enjoyment for the game, I personally would rather play a good, close game and if we win great, if not then it's not that bad because it was a good game.

What irks me is people who are so obsessed with getting the win that they ruin the game by camping or marathon/lightweight UMPs all around the map. You see them in every game though so it's nothing new. It's just abusing exploits in the game to win imo.

I'm not sure if I hate UMPs or modded FALs and handguns more but at least the UMP isn't exactly cheating...

UMP's aren't fun. I despise people who use them. Although I'm a die hard sniper I'm a bit biased, but it pisses me off to see a silenced smg kill me in 3 bullets from one side of the map to the other AFTER I've gotten a hitmarker on the ****.

Far too overpowered, the clip should be the size of a tmp, then it would be fair, or at least encourage people to try out the Vector or the P90
