Why is my NTL "Zoomed In"?

On my tv with NTL in Galway it feels like theres about an inch or 2 on each side of the picture getting chopped off, like right now the TV3 logo is down in the bottom right of the screen and its zoomed in so much that half the logo is missing, its nothing to do with the aspect ratio on my tv, it seems to be the signal itself, its been this way for ages. Its so annoying when you're trying to watch a film or anything. Why is this and is there anything I can do about it?

    Is this all channels?

While this shouldn't work have you rebooted the box from "cold" ie unplugging it? Worth a try

Right, well thats defo them then, which means (cue dread music) you will have to phone them. I din't know anyone had analogue cable at this point. When you call them you will probably be invited to upgrade :)

What kind of tv do you have? It is 16:9 (widescreen) or 4:3 (old "square" tv)? This sounds to me like you are trying to view a widescreen image on a 4:3 tv without using the black bars to show the full image. I used to get this with Sky on my old tv until I put the picture in 4:3L which put the black bars on the image and sorted it out.

Its a 22 inch lcd but it would do the same on a CRT or anything, even if I set the aspect ratio to original so that there are 2 black bars either side it the bars will still be chopping off bits of the picture either side. Ill give them a ring and see, thanks.
