Quick Copyright Query - Croke Park

If I take a photograph from within Croke park - who owns the copyright? Me or the GAA?

The reason I ask is that I have an image I wish to use within an advert. I have however seen free images of Croke Park on some photo sites, where usage is not restricted - so I'm assuming that I would be ok to go and use my image?

Just went to the croke park website to get some info - it looks like they've got Danny O'Briens photo in their banner at the top.
    http://pix.ie/valentia/341322 - great shot

Did you have permission to shoot there? It's private property, that may be the only hiccup? Maybe ring and ask them.

You own the copyright, however, you are not free to use the image for advertising.

You would need a release agreement with the GAA, and any teams/people involved, to use the image commercially like that.

The GAA are very strict about the usage of images with their logo and any IP rights they have (including the stadium itself).

Any photograph, image, film or recording taken of a team, a team member or of Croke Park Stadium may not be reproduced for any commercial purpose whatsoever.

Would this apply to a photograph taken from the street, or from the air?

Cheers guys, I hadn't had time to do a search this morning on the copyright.

I did spot this image however:

And the usage rights seem to allow usage for whatever you like. I can't be certain if the original photographer obtained a release for this or not.

Unless the building design is copyright I'd imagine you could do what you like, but if you are standing on GAA property when you take it they can control how you can use the image. However, I am not a lawyer.

    I highly doubt they did.

I've e-mailed Croke Park there anyway to find out what the situation is.

    Thanks again everyone :)
