    Hey everyone,

I am contemplating going to a Toastmasters meeting, I was wondering has anyone been before and if so what is it like? What is the age demographic and did you find it useful?

I mainly want it to improve my confidence when speaking rather than public speaking per se and I figure it wouldn't look too bad on a CV either :pac:

If anyone has been before I would love to hear your experience.

    All the Best,

    Acapella

I asked the same thing (albeit 3 yrs ago) http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055163615&highlight=toastmasters

I never had the balls to go along, but I probably will at some stage. I'd say its well worth it.

The original Limerick Toastmasters is a bit of a elderly "stonecutters" clique. The great and the good of the upper classes in Limerick society go there. I went there a couple of times and didn't find them at all welcoming of strangers.

However you should try Raheen toastmasters. A few years after my bad first impression with Limerick Toastmasters I called into one of the Raheen meetings and I found them much more relaxed, informal and welcoming. There is a very wide range of ages, levels of experience, social background etc. They used to meet in the South Court but I think they have moved from there since.
