Hi Folks, driving up the N18 tomorrow to Westport. Just wondering the quickest route after Oranmore?

Bad road but quickest is Terryland roundabout, then head for Headford (N84), there go straight on R334 towards Cong but dont turn off for cong (better road than N84), to Ballinrobe back on N84 until Partry where go left on R330 to Westport.

Other alternative is Tuam, Claremorris, Castlebar but it is longer an roads aren't a lot better in parts.

having made the trip quite often over the last 2 years i would recomend the prevous posters route as it is the best route if you have a sat nav it will send you that way from limerick http://maps.google.com/ google map's will give you the same result as well just remmber to put the full trip in and it'll see ya right

I usually go from Ornamore to Claregalway and onto Tuam Road. A bitlonger than the Headford Ballinrobe road but imho a much better road.
