Secure site issue on ubuntu?

    Im running 10.04 on 2 laptops here. On both I cant login to tesco.ie. On one of the same laptops, running windows, it works fine. On ubuntu i tried it on firefox, chrome and chromium, all the same.
    Is there some security option i need to change somewhere?

    It should 'just work'. Are you using a proxy? If so, ensure you've ticked the option to use it for HTTP as well as HTTPS.

    Edit: the secure shopping site is https://secure.tesco.ie (212.140.185.61). Does it work when you visit the IP address?

    I had no problem logging on, but half way through the website started having problems, couldn't change my details or card number so maybe it's something up on the server side>

    No proxy, and its the same when i use the ip rather then site name. When i click login, it just keeps trying to go to secure.tesco.ie and times out eventually. Perhaps tesco is just anti linux?

    Doubt they're actively denying access to Linux users! The site works on Macs ;)

    What DNS servers are you using?

    open dns's ones. Set at the router though, so unlikely to be issue?
    I wiped hers and put on windows 7 ( she missed windows). I still have it and would be interested in solving this!

    Site probably checks to see if you're a Mac or Windoze user.

    My bank recently changed their site to block Linux users. I workaround this by using the User Agent Switcher add-on for Firefox. Once installed, you can select whatever browser you want. I usually go with Windows IE6 to bypass these silly restrictions and access my money.

    Yep. Irish bank. They probably see Linux users as a "security risk".
