im moving into limerick soon where upc is available, few quick questions please, help me make my decision to go with them or not

i remember a year or two ago, alot of upc, chorus at the time, channels weren't broadcast in 16:9, you had to get sky, how is it now,

with their recording box, can you now record 2 channels at the same time like with sky ?, it used only be one ?

i'm happy with sky myself, its just the missus want us get this all in one package off them with their broadband, but i have my reservations, i like my telly,

    thanks

eta after reading the thread about the latest epg, would put anyone off moving to upc,

If you like your telly then Id probably advise to stick with Sky tbh...! I was a long time Sky user (in my parents house), now stuck with Chorus as I live in an apartment and I regret not taking a chance on putting a dish up. Its not awful (apart from the equipment/EPG) but I just feel you get an awful lot more from Sky, even if they are more expensive.

Their broadband is excellent btw; I genuinely cant recommend it enough!

    To answer your questions:

Most channels are 16:9. A couple will still go back into 4:3 (Comedy Central being one of them) if you have your TV set to change automatically, but if you force your TV to stay in widescreen then youll be fine.

I dont think you can record two programs at once. You can record one and watch another, but as far as I can gather (Ive not tried it tbh) you can only record one at a time.

You can record two channels at the same time. However, the box must be in standby.

The guide isn't an issue for me, I pay to watch the telly not watch the guide :D

UPC are well worth it, great value for me.

Weighing up both I'd have to opt for UPC. Better value for money and no fugly dish on your premises.

Its nice to be able to find the channels you want to watch tho and not have to waste several minutes messing about trying to get a badly programmed EPG to work ;)

FFS. Learn the channel numbers. It's not rocket science.
