Can I swap digital boxes?

I have a standard digital upc package (the silver box) and parents have the digital plus box (non HD). They dont want it and said I could have it so is it possible to swap these with no problem?

I think the channels are slightly different. I have the value and I think they have the select. So would I get the extra ones because of the box or is it just dependent on the signal coming into the house?

    thanks for any info.

if they are in the same house then you can swap them no bother.

do your parents know that they are paying 5 euro a month for the box

No they are not in the same house. I have my own house and subscription but they upgraded from analogue so it doesnt cost 5 euro extra, it is only 1 euro extra. They do not want the box and rather remain with what they are used to so offered me the box as I would have more use for it. Not to worry Ill give them the few quid if it works :D.

I was just wondering if they give me that box would it work on my subscription and they could have had mine. Is there any reason it wouldnt work as I assume it should considering we both have upc signals coming in?

    thanks.

Technically it will work, but it will be against the UPC T&C for the both of you...

If you swap boxes, you are swapping subscriptions, so you will have thier "secect" package and they will have your value package. Remember to swap back if you ever have a service call..
