Database and email notification

I am trying to create a database with in a company which has information about servers, service tags, warranties, location, departments owning which servers. i also want to have email notification of when warranties are ending.

The thing is i dont really know how or where to start so any input would be appreciated.

What are you trying to create the database in? There's plenty of examples online about asset tracking databases so I think there would be a good place to start!

To be honest, i havent a clue on how i might go about this. i was asked to do it and i dont have much knowledge but i said id give it a go. so im looking for any information at all which miht help. what everyone thinks might be a good way to go about it
