I'm not going to lie. I love that picture. I immediately started wondering where I'd get a spare, dead DeWalt battery in work. Unfortunately, since they're sodding savage, all twelve battery packs are fully functioning.

They have the battery packs, yes. I have the battery packs for various DeWalt tools as it is. Thing is, I'm no more willing to shell out €80+ for a battery pack just to hack it open than I am willing to hack open a perfectly good one that I already have.

I'll just wait until one fails and then scrap the innards.

I wonder how many people got the Soylent Green reference... the book was pretty scary.

Two very interesting essays on the Beeb today.

    Be careful what you tweet
...online interaction has other characteristics which are very different from those of a casual conversation in a cafe. ...
This is something that TV nutritionist Gillian McKeith has just discovered the hard way, and her experience offers a salutary lesson for anyone who wants to use social media tools to enhance their reputation rather than expose themselves to public ridicule.

Facebook's battle with privacy and profit
In a little over six years, Facebook has gained more than 500 million users and an estimated value of around $10bn (£6.6bn). But the social networking site has also tied itself in knots over privacy, so much so that German data officials are now taking the company to court.

Post in haste, repent at leisure.

In fairness, Gillian McKeith is a scammer and always has been, so all social media is doing is making it so it's harder to fool all of the people all of the time.

She's well aware of the fact that she can't use the word dietician (protected term in the UK and Ireland - much like dentist vs toothiologist*)., but she has a "Ph.D" in nutrition. It's amazing how many people are taken in by quacks with fantasy stories about CAM.

    * thank you Dara O'Briain for this wonderful analogy

I do admire Dr. Ben Goldacre though, with all the extra work he puts into his writing and campaining, on top of his hospital work.

In all seriousness though, anechoic chambers are pretty awesome.

Was browsing ebaybanned earlier and saw those toy solider
things that I've often ignored as they are ultra ultra 40 year old virgin type of uber nerdy type things. But looking at the photos I could not believe the level of detail in them, I was almost tempted to get my self an Action man! and succumb to a nerd impulse buy. While the figures dont interest me much, I'd like to get some of the guns themeslves just to make a display and maybe put it in a frame. Some even looked like the mags had brass coloured rounds in them.

Anyone know the best and cheapest place to buy some of these ?

I especially want the Bren as shown here:

Seen the FAL before on ebay but missed the auction.

This is not really off topic but thought this was a pretty cool airsoft video. Wonder how he got a camera in the scope???

Just copped on that this is probably fixed and players made this video to take hits etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Camera isn't in the scope, it's just placed in right on the eyepiece. Focus the camera to infinity, strap it into place and Roberts your fathers brother. You can try it yourself with even a camera phone, as they're usually fixed-focus to infinity anyway.

Maybe its photoshoped into it it ya no ?

Also I love those minis. Was really temped to buy some, but then i realised i could get more practical stuff like BBS :P

Does anyone have a HTC HD2? I'm after a smart phone that's not an iPhone, and I already have an iPod Touch.

Anyone see the new A-team movie yet...??

    Yup.

Saw the adds and thought it looked stupid, then saw the movie and thought it was the best thing since slice bread.

They take the piss really, which is what makes it great. Don't go in expecting a realistic action movie and you'll love it..

On another movie note, do not go to see Predators. By far one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Plot was terrible, could not get my head around it.

The original with Arnie is by far the best. You cant fault that movie as it has everything, I think all the follow ups tried to be what the 1st was but could never measure up.

On the topic of movies Lmao Any one seen splice yet? trailer looks alright but dunno

Anyone see Inception yet? I have to say i didn't like it. It wasn't bad, but i don't want to go to a movie where i concisiously have to think. Also the dialoge was just stupid. You could tell the actors hadn't a clue what they were talking about

Everyone told me it was brilliant. Very dissapointed :(

Solution. Sell the iPod, or gift it to a relative. Get an iPhone.

    Problem solved.

Seriously though, if you're after a HTC, the Desire is a brilliant piece of kit. I'd probably take it over the HD2, although both are very good.
I wouldn't overlook the Palm Pre either. It's a fair bit smaller but it's a bloody nice phone to use.

I thought it was mostly a good watch, some of the stuff made you think a bit. I just felt the reason they were doing all the crazy stuff was, a bit bland tbh
    for his kids, what's new?

The highlight for me was at the very end, a friend of mine just said, rather loudly:
    WHAT THE F***?
Followed by some laughter from the audience :D

I was paying more attention to what guns they were using throughout the movie tbh:P

im the other way, i loved it because it made me think, it was refreshing for once to see a movie that did not treat the audience as if it had a low IQ and the attention span of a puppy e.g transformers and stuff like that

Yea towards the end it was really making you feel "is all this worth it?" .

Still at least it's something different from the usual crapfest hollywood is producing

I can't find the Palm Pre in stock online on O2 and the Desire is oos on all the retailers sites. I'll search the brick and mortar stores when I eventually have a day off from work.

After the last 3 disasters of phones (all SE), I'll do more research this time.
