BBC iPlayer - FreeSat

    i know that its not accessible thru an irish IP, .... But..

    What should i expect to see if i try and load it.


    at the moment, i press the red button on BBC1,
    select iPlayer (page 7001)
    iPlayer Loads
    I have the ability to select channel/category/Date etc

    i then select a programme.. and it stays loading for ages.

    I thought that i wouldn't even be able to get that far with an irish IP..


    any thoughts or experiences ??

    probably the same as if you were trying to access it from the pc,

    you can get on to the i player page ,even select category .

    when the media loads to a certain point it will give you the 'computer says no' message.

    With Irish IP, thats exactly what happens.
    I use overplay VPN with internet connection sharing and BBC iPlayer works perfectly.
    I also have playon.tv running on my PC which gives me access to Hulu and other sites from US/worldwide on a Sony Freesat TV.

    Overplay costs 7 euro a month, but with all of the latest tv from us and access to iPlayer its better value than Sky.

    Playon requires DNLA certified device. I think most Freesat TV's have this not sure if any Freesat STB's have it.

    There are other Free UK VPN's/Proxies available but are not as reliable as the paid service. I find that they tend to work off peak

    my tv is a sony with dnla.

    is there anything i do with that if i connect it up?

    Look at playon.tv its a great dnla server for internet content. Works best with us vpn. Hotspotshield is a good free vpn. Paid ones are better. Also plenty of plugins available for playon.

    i'm running a mac, using a 3 internet dongle, thru a 3g router.

    its all getting complicated.. and not satellite based

    not going to be a great option with 3g dongle due to low bandwith and low cap.
    Its as about as much to do with sat as bbc iplayer !

    Although you may need sat reception to start a video, all video content is delivered via internet.
