Whoa, I'd almost go so far as to say that Arsenal's once off best premier league 11 is better than United's.

    personally, i don't think there's much doubt.

that's not a dig at Utd; i just absolutely adored Arsenal's Invincibles; and smattered with the likes of Adams, Seaman, Dixon and Cesc in his prime, it'd tear everyone a new one IMO.

Utd's once off would come a close enough second to be fair; there's not really much between them at all.

I'd be inclined to go for Overmars over Ljungberg, but otherwise I'd agree with x_Pyros team.

Maybe; a couple of Arsenal's players don't have the longevity of their United counterparts but at their peaks their stars burned very brightly.

I will pick mine, but i have left out Gary neville as i just dont like him anymore. if i had to pick the best 11 on terms of overall through the years performances, i would move irwin to left back, though i think evra is well on his way to becoming uniteds best left back ever. Irwin was something else.

Van Nistelrooy has to be in there, anybody that leaves him out, is being a little bit daft IMO. Schmeichel is being run very closely by van der sar now, another season like the last 2 and i think he can lay claims to replace the great dane. had we signed him in 99, not only would we have had a better chance of winning another cl in 2001 and 2002, but also he would be the undeniable number 1 in United history. Van Der Sar has been up there with one of Fergies best signings IMO and i really really rate the lad. Schmeichel gets the nod, only on service time. most of the other positions are not up for grabs, its easy to pick really bar maybe center half, but i think the 2 lads have taken defending to a new level. hard to leave beckham out, but well, he is up against a player who became the best player in the world in the same position during his time at united. could play ronaldo up top and relegate rooney to the bench, but i think this team is spot on.

It sickens me to leave eric out also, but i think rooney and van nistelrooy did more on the pitch, though cantona was my favourite player ever for united.

    Schmeichel

    Irwin
    Rio
    Vidic
    Evra

    Ronaldo
    Keane
    Scholes
    Giggs

    Van Nistelrooy
    Rooney.

    Subs.

    Van der Sar.
    Neville
    Stam
    Beckham
    Yorke
    Cantona.
    Ole.

    Neville Bruce Stam Irwin

    Ronaldo Keane Scholes Giggs

    Cantona Rooney

    Subs:

Van der Sar, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Beckham, van Nistelrooy, Cole, Solskjaer.

How any United fan can't put Solskjaer on the bench mystifies me.

    Bellamy
    Sutton
    Shearer

It could be Friedel between the sticks, I just tossed a coin.

I'd have Friedel between the sticks because Given never really played for Blackburn.

Like yourself I'd have Shearer and Sutton as it would be criminal to name anyone else :)

As much as Bellamy worked wonders at the club i'd have Wilcox on the left Wing.

I am going to include current players - so i'm putting in Dunn and Nelsen.

    Blackburn Rovers

    Friedel

    Nelsen
    Hendry
    Le Saux

    Costacurta Nesta Baresi Maldini
    Pirlo
    Gattauso Boban
    Kaka
    Shevchenko Van Bastan

    Subs:
    Dida
    Cafu
    Tasstotti
    Ambrosini
    Albertini
    Savićević
    Weah

[edit]Costacurta on for Cafu seeing as 679 games 20 years in the first team squad deserve to be honoured

Also, OMG, I forgot about Serginho in the honourable mentions, stupid me![/edit]

    Am I doing it right?

Van Bastan probably shouldn't be in there, was at Milan for two seasons of the premierhsip era but he didn't play all that much.

Honorable mentions to, Abbiati, Inzaghi, Serginho, Rui Costa, Simone, Desailly, Donadoni, Stam, Seedorf, Panucci, Bierhoff and a few others.

I think that legendary defensive partnership deserves at least one of those players on the best XI. I could have gone for Pallister, but his strike rate, leadership, those Sheffield Wednesday goals, and the iconic head bandage forced my hand in Bruce's favour.

I know it mightn't have the balance of Vieira/Petit... but no Fabregas?

I'd go with An Capaill Mor's team above - defo think Overmars is a better pick than Freddie. And I'd have Adams in there with Campbell, if only for the goal against Everton in '98.

I was a bit harsh leaving out Adams, but knew most people would pick him and felt Keown deserved a mention, as for no Fabregas, I have been disappointed with him this summer, that said Vieira and Petit were a great together,Overmars I took as a left winger, so he was in competition with Pires.

Freddie was a super player for us before he became injury prone and had a great song also :P
