I doubt so.... everyone I know says I'm an old man. In the car, I'm slow, relaxed, rule abiding. Minute I jump on the bike it's another kettle of fish altogether (still rule abiding of course :) ). Still, I think the Rover looks classy, it's insanely comfortable, has many luxuries and are dead cheap.
I picked up my 02 CDT with 82k on the clock, full leather, heated and electric seats, all elec windows, cruise control, dual climate control for 3k. Can't really argue with that.

You should remap the cdt. I'm getting mine done this week after waiting for an age for my tuner to get the right file. It's going from 115Bhp to 159. Can't friggen wait.

I was thinking about getting a tuning box instead, but I doubt it would get that much improvement out of the engine. How much are you paying for the remap?

I have a tuning box at the moment, it's fine, and it definitely gives more power, but I'd say its about 130/135bhp. The remap is the one I was waiting for, it's a more refined solution and my tuning box was only to be a stop gap until I got it. I won't be paying too much as it's a friends business, but remaps are usually around 300 Euro.

Best bit is that I'll have a tuning box for sale again! :pac:

Tuning box(Synergy 2, the only one to use!) would bring you up to around 140bhp.
Remap would bring you up to around 145-150.
Having both would bring you up to 160-170!

The tuning box improves power around the 2k mark, the remap improves power higher up.

Whose map is he using? Best seems to be from http://reidyremaps.co.uk/, heard bad things from some of the bigger companies in England.

Using a norwegian company, all maps are tested for long term reliability and on a dyno too.

Your mechanics a numpty then, only two out of 6 engine variants fitted to the Rover 75 ever suffered from HGF - the 1.8 and the 1.8T and even then, as RoverJames said, that was almost always due to coolant loss cooking the engine - not the headgasket failing.
Are you certain? What about the 2 litre petrol engines - afaik they are K series, no?

The 2 litre is actually a short stroke 2.5l KV6, shares zero components or technology with the 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8l K series.

The KV6 is actually an extremely reliable engine in the Rover 75 guise, never seen or heard of an engine to die other than by thermostat leaking over time and causing eventual overheating and HGF(but it would literally takes weeks from the start of the leak for this to happen, and if you stopped the car as soon as you noticed the temperature going up no damage would be done)

As said earlier in the thread they are 2.0 KV6s

And I've seen a 2.0 KV6 in the back of an autograss/autocross buggy that was pushing out over 300hp!

Got mine remapped this morning. The car went from 115Bhp to 150Bhp, not the 159 I'd previously mentioned, but what a difference. Oodles more power down low, pulls hard to the redline, and keeps pulling until it can't go anymore. The powerband has been smoothed out, and the car just seems to be refreshed all round. Well happy with it.

I have a ZT 190 now, honestly - my CDT feels faster and is definitely more effective overtaking - but the KV6 is so so smooth and effortless.

    Well wear!

Was in a 2.0l Rover 75 diesel taxi last night, very comfortable and refined. Leather interior was very nice too. 131k miles and no mechanical trouble at all.
