ive been to several weddings in the algarve, work related. it seems that most wedding planners are offering the same packages be it venues or music. although in general portuguese people dont use the local planners as there are many other options. my favourite location for a party was on a beach between alvor and praia de rocha.cant remember th ename ofd the restauraunt. im sure the other guests would agree.

    hi ladies

i am getting married in the coming year and i am thinking about portugal...around lagos...i was wondering if you girls could recommend reception venues? i am organising this myself as i don't have the funds for a planner....double redundancy etc.....your expert opinions would be gratefully accepted.

    cheers

I've just seen this and I have to ask, do you think a wedding us a good idea when you're both unemployed? I don't mean to be a spoilsport but I'm surprised nobody else has said anything...

    Hi all,
We're getting married in Tavira next year. We're thinking of using Quinta Eventos as our venue, has anyone had they're wedding there or been to a wedding there. It's looks to be just what we want but would love some feedback.
    Cheers, C

    Hey

I'm getting married in the Algarve in September 2010 and we are having trouble finding a band. We want a big band who can play a range of music to suit all age groups. We have only been able to find a rock band, and a rat-pack act, but neither of these offers everything we need. Double Cocktail have been recommended, but they are booked on the day.

    Can anybody help us please???

    Thanks

    Hey molly,
I'm having the same problem, we searched around the Algarve for a big band + affair and only found rock bands playing bars, this is great when you're on holidays but for my wedding I need a band that caters for everyone, including the older guests (they want swing music and Irish songs). I'm afraid rock bands won't do the job. I found 2 agencies based in the Algarve, one offered only rock bands or Irish music not a party band as we want, I checked their videos and their quality was poor, I don't think we would like to have them perform our wedding, the other agency offered double cocktail but they are also booked on my date:(. I'm now considering changing my date and have to check with the priest if it's still possible, if not I'm in trouble as I want to have a party band that plays all styles of music..Help!
Please let me know if you find one.....
    Kev

Have either of you checked out branded? we used them for our wedding in October last year and found them to be great, very flexible and they play a wide range of music. PM for more info if you like.

Hi there - I am also getting married in the Algarve at the Sheraton in September. I have organised it all myself but have heard that the wedding planners are very good. I have had a trial for the hair and make-up with a couple of people. I have booked with a hairdresser in Vilamoura near the marina and a girl called Louise for the make up. Good luck to all of you!:)

we just got married there last month and it was amazing.

all you need to know is to get in contact with Paula & Karina at Algarve Wedding Planners (see previous post) to organise your big day and Double Cocktail (contactable through AWP) to organise the entertainment and you can't go wrong. :)

oh, and get yourselves over to the weddings online forum and soak up everything there as they can help you with every aspect of your big day and you really have a lot to get organised! :)

i'd second AWP and double coctail, had ours recently in Os Agostos, stunning venue. you can spend as much as u like over there on a wedding but the quality of product/service completely outshines what you'd get here for the same price....and the sunshine's thrown in for free!

Hi, does anyone know of any private villas which can be rented for weddings in the Algarve..I am getting married there next year and still no venue!

Ditto, we were at Os Agostos too in June and it was perfect. not a single guest had anything bad to say about any part of it (and you know there's always usually at least one!) :D

everyone said it was like being at a hollywood wedding and they'd never been to anything like it before, so that's got to be a good endorsement. :)

see my previous post about algarve wedding planners, they know every decent venue in the whole of the algarve. if they can't find you the right place then nobody can. there are ways you can compromise on price and ways you really shouldn't and NOT having planners over there is one of the big ways you shouldn't try and skimp. AWP are very competitively priced and will save you time, effort and money in the long run, trust me.

    Hi Hunnymonster

Ive got in touch with Paula from Algarve wedding planners. We are planning on a small group to head over (less than 20, just family really). Would wedding planners do small parties as well?
    Any advice appreciated

i'm pretty sure they do, but you'll probably be a little more limited with suitable venues with smaller numbers.

the best thing to do is ask them. :)

    Hi Brides,

I'm hoping to get married in the Algarve next June and Double Cocktail are booked for my date also, and other recommendations for good bands? Have the same problem as mentioned in similar posts in that the bands on the agency site seem to favour one style of music and I'm looking for a mix.. Any suggestions welcome! :)

we found the best wedding photographer whilst we were there and have kept in touch with her via facebook and it looks like she's setting up a similar service, i'm sure she'll be able to help if you can't get double cocktail for your date.

her name is nickie and she's lovely she has the beginnings of a website set up here http://www.yourportugalwedding.com/ and altho it's not complete yet, you can contact her via the site to ask if she can help. tell her that chris & linda sent you. :)

    Hiya
if anyone can help it´s stephanie. her advise has been five stars ever since we got in touch, DC also performed our wedding. My advise, if you can, CHANGE YOUR DATE TO HAVE THEM as nothing compares to DC in the algarve!:D
They made our Wedding to the most amazing day ever!

ditto actually, well worth changing your date if you can, they really made the night, espec ially if you don't have that many guests as stefanie really knows how to get everyone up and dancing and helps to create a great atmosphere.

    Hi,
we actually changed our wedding date to have Double Cocktail perform, they are billiant so we figured a great party would be worth the effort and it turned out not too diificult to arrange it. Best of luck.

We had an amazing band at our wedding - a 4 piece called the Swithas, they were fantastic, people didn't stop talking about how good the music was. They play a real mix, quite rocky as well with their drums and electric guitars! We saw them one night in a pub in Villamoura and were like "wow, something like that would be great for our wedding" - coincidentally we mentioned them to our wedding planner and she knew them and dealt with them so it was great. Would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend them!

if you go with double cocktail you'll be guaranteed an amazing night thats for sure. lost count of the amount of guests who came up to me after the wedding saying there were the best they'd ever heard.

@lunalane the santa eulalia is amazing, the location is beautiful and the whole package we got from them was brilliant. one thing the guests loved was the trays of food at the end of the night. we paid for 4 and there was too much food on them, pizzas and rolls galore!! the guests were bringing them onto the bus on the way back to their hotel!! also you'll be given a minimum price to spend, we were under this by a bit (the guests x price per dinner worked out less than we thought) so we were able to put the balance behind the bar.

(bloke here!) Getting married in Santa eulalia?? next sept and having difficulty with the band. My fear about double cocktail is that they are a 'duo' - my most hated of bands! Has anyone any experience of Diesel? We saw them in the cabin in Villamoura and were brilliant.

    Appreciate it.

the gotel should be able to make alternative suggestions ( we had DC and loved them). Having said that, with RGSE maybe not, found hotel useless.
