Rise of the Eldrazzi and M11

    with the prerelease of RotE this weekend and M11 coming soon,I was just wondering what people's opinions of these sets are?

    eldrazzi seems to be bringing in a slower format to standard and wizards themselves stating that standard will slow down, does anyone else think this will happen? or will jund hold on until the bitter end when Alara rotates out?

    are the eldrazzi even standard playable?

    so yeh i was at the pre-release for Eldrazi in GamersWorld....and sweet mother of god those creatures are beastly. you're right when you say the games are slowing down a heck of a lot, but in a way i really feel thats good. so many games go too fast and with creatures costing up to 15 mana to cast its gonna make play last a bit longer.

    the Eldrazi are gonna be standard playable as of this weekend i think when they are officially released for sale purposes. hoping to play a nice blue/black Eldrazi ramp deck at the next national qualifiers...see how well that treats me lol :)

    blue/black is a pain to play against,within the set at the very least.I was at a release and surprisingly enough Red is a very viable colour,with some solid burn and quite rampable for the eldrazzi.

    as a side note,I've found my next deck concept,I managed to pick 3 vent sentinels in the draft, defender burn deck,here I come!![for anyone who hasn't drafted the set,he is a fantastic card as more then likely you will have some viable defender cards passing you by]

    get some staggershock in to that defender deck and you'll be flying :) the idea of a defender deck and Vent Sentinels ability kinda scares me a little...gotta find a way around that somehow lol...you going to try national qualifiers on saturday?

    nope,I play casual,tournament standard doesn't really appeal to me.I just put decks together every now and then to shut up some of the "better" players around college.

    It should do very well against the aggro decks that are around.I havn't test played it properly yet [it's still just proxied up].I'm dreading the Maelstrom pulse's though

    yeh maelstrom pulse will fuck you up!!!

    you should come up to Belfast for the nationals in august for the craic...im heading up with a few lads who have already qualified. they're doing last chance qualifiers up there, borrowing my friends winning Grixis deck just hoping i get in....be a good weekend no matter what :)

    We'll see,I'm basically giving up magic for the summer,since I'll be at home for nearly all of it.So there is a last chance qualifier in belfast? A friend of mine was saying all they had was the grinders and that was it.

    My last foray is today,buying a box of Eldrazzi and hoping for a Gideon,hopefully my soldier deck can mess stuff up rightly then.

    oooooh summer without magic? im impressed with the will power haha :) yeh the last chances are handy, basically just 8 man elimination and winner goes on to nationals, prob be on the friday (day before nats start) and there'll be as many groups of 8 as there is people to fill the matches!

    good luck with the booster box! id just about kill for a gideon so if you get one you're a blessed man! waiting to get a box of M11 when i go off interrailing for the summer so we can draft our way across Europe :)

    M11 prerelease next weekend.

    I want me a Sun titan,it looks fun[and the art is fantastic]

    And they reprinted baneslayer,not really a surprise.

    Am I the only one that thinks Combustion is fairly specific Baneslayer Hate?

    Combustion is very much Baneslayer Hate! and its fucking hilarious that it exists!! so happy that the Baneslayer Hate continues! :) its just toooooo good!

    i cant wait to play with Gaea's Revenge!!! Cant be countered, Haste, cant be target of non-green spells or abilities from non-green sources! and its a bloody 8/5 creature! gonna be sick :)

    Is there anywhere that's confirmed to be having a pre-release event next weekend? I want a nice shiny Sun Titan card as well. Hopefully something will be there at Conclave.

    Gamers World in Dublin is having events on Saturday and Sunday! its just out the back of the Jervis Street Shopping Centre! more than likely starting from 12 midday on both days! :) hop that helps

    speaking of which,do you need to give you rname in beforehand or is it first come first serve type deal?I MIGHT make it to the saturday event

    nope you can just show up before the start time and sign up. thats it :) then they'll set up the gameday for whoever actually wants to stay and play with the cards! lotta ppl just sign up for the cards and obvo the Sun Titan :D lol

    Do their events usually start 12:00?

    yeh it should start at 12, but you might want to get in there a bit earlier to make sure you're signed up and that theres plenty of places left when you get in there :)

    ok well yesterday was amazing! :D

    got my promo Sun Titan, then pulled a real Sun Titan in my 2nd pack. got a few other decent rares in my packs too so overall im happy about how today went. now just waiting for the products to actually go on sale so i can get my booster box! :)

    that is exactly what im saying! and what im saying afterwards is you cant have it! mwahahaha

    the room was disgusting yesterday! there was 32 ppl for the pre-release and i have no idea who came first. i spent most of my time in between games inhaling fresh air outside haha

    PLEEEEASE.

    So,what are the Archetypes like in decks etc.? Is mass-polymorph coming up as the next deck.

    I didn't want to say it,but yeah you could cut the smell of gamer with a knife when I was there

    I'm not sure about archetypes, but I saw a lot of Green and Artifacts.
    There where very few who I played against that didn't play any Green.

    honestly im not sure if Mass Polymorph is gonna make it big...altho i dont know! artifacts will probably become big once Scars comes out in October... :D

    got my booster box last night! pulled a crazy amount of excellent rares! and i got my Primeval Titan :)
