Sky Sports in Pub

    Hi Everyone

    Have been talking with a friend who owns and lives in a pub he had been showing the football matches until last month one day a Sky Rep approached him telling him that he did not have a Buinness Subscription to be showing Sky Sports in his pub so fine he tried to cancel his Domestic Sub but he was told that if he did'nt subscribe for a Buinness Sub 600 Euro per month for 1 year they would be taking him to court anyone know where he stands.

    In order to show Sky in a pub, club or business you must have a sky commericial account. The price for this is varied, depending on the size and turnover of the commerial premises.

    Im not sure if they could take him to court if he decided not to take a commerical account, but they can and will switch off if they havent already done so the card that is currently in use in the bar.

    He is then left with the choice of getting a commerical account with themselves or with UPC...

    Thanks for the reply I thought this myself sounds to me that the Sky Rep is on some sort of Bonus playing hardball

    Its possible he is working for a 3rd party company...but I have installed a few commerical accounts after a similar visit ...which I wasnt complaining about :-p

    If the domestic sub is taken out of the pub and moved to the landlords house, how can they prove it was ever there?

    Tell him to get a subscription to a foreign tv provider like Sky Italy or similar EU providor.
    They show way more matches than Sky UK with English commentary .
    Its a bit of a grey area but I think Sky have stopped prosecuting pubs showing foreign tv packages until the outcome of the Karen Murphy case which they could lose.

    nope, all pubs have to pay for a commercial license, that's why you see the little pint symbol on the sky feed in a pub, it's to let anyoen checking know they ae getting the proper feed

    i think you even agree to this when you sign up for sky, it's in the terms you sign, so your friend might not have much grounds for arguement
