    Hi,

Thought id set up a thread so people can air their views, problems, tips etc for the up comming exams!

Ill start off and say I think Cash Flows are a high possibility for the Financial Exam!

    Hi,

I have completed the Chartered exams two years ago and I am now qualified. I have just been reverted to this site and this thread in particular by a colleague of mine.

I find it quite interesting that a thread was set up to assist students in their exams. It's useful if you are missing certain items, such as exam papers, solutions, etc... but the fact that people are throwing tips around is laughable.

Students should be using their time efficiently rather than spending time on this. The exams are tough enough without wasting time.

I would advise students to ignore all of the "tips" on this site and just get down to the nitty gritty of the exams. It's your life and each student knows what has to be done.

I wish you all the best in the exams.

Ah a little bit of procrastination and a smidgeon of wishful thinking never did anyone any harm!

It's not as if we spend hours here eagerly awaiting the next post like!

Not to mind if the Institute did their jobs properly a lot of the info requested here wouldn't be needed. Like the 'correct solutions' as opposed to the Institute solutions ;)

Fair point, but there are always some students which spend more time listening to others rather than actually going over the material. I know studying is a pain in the ass and I hated it, but from not listening to others and just doing my own thing got me through.

Best of luck in your exams anyway!!!!

    Sorry Daddy.

Its only a bit of fun lad, chill calm down and relax! Thank you for taking our futures into consideration. Were only throwing round our suggestions, I dont think one hour of internet use a day is going to kill us in fairness and the other 23 spent working! LOL

Just going through a few ACCA papers here to try and get more consolidation practice.

As per the syllabus, piecemeal acquisition are not examinable- is that correct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 101 ✭✭aca101

Hey guys hope the study is going well...just wondering does anyone have a pack of consolidation q's and a's they could post up...i've been through most of the exam papers at this stage so im looking for a few more questions to practice.

Its crazy how hard the new Cap 2 exams are compared to the Prof 3,

everything else has remined pretty on par but the Finanical Accounting exam is a lot ahrder, i wonder why that is?/

Seems a bit unfair does anyone agree with me.

Yeah the level has gone up a good bit- the level also increased for CAP1's too so that's probably why. I think both SFMA and FR are a good bit harder than the Prof 3's- we should basically be at the old FAE standard

This is a consol pack we got given. I've only done a few questions from it and they seem very in-depth/hard! There are a good few that are updated for the new IFRS 3 etc

i cant believe the difference between prof3 and cap2. unreal madrid.

i was convinced for a while that a consolidated cash flow question would come up but once i thought about it = how could they even ask that? i mean = for question 1 its not a big enough question and they couldnt ask u to do a consolidated SoCI, SoFP and a consolidated SoCF as well could they? theres a question with it in the toolkit that has all 3 in one question if my memory serves me correctly but seems a bit much to be honest.

im looking forward to getting them done = cant wait for that strange feeling again when you feel like theres constantly something you should be doing and then realise that you can do absolutely nothing/anything guilt free.

Well in the first sitting they asked Consolidated I/S, B/S and Basic & Diluted EPS in question 1(a) & 1(b) so it's highly likely.

Granted Basic & Diluted EPS isn't the most difficult topic going, it's still quite time consuming to do, especially since your figures for doing it is derived from your question 1(a) (which is an absolute nightmare).

    I wouldn't discount the possibility. :|

Yeah I definitely think its an option- Sample Paper 1 has an I/S, B/S and CF in Q1! :(

Where is this zip file? Could you put it up? I'm in Group 2 and it doesn't appear to be on my Student Centre site.

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

We have two weeks left and I still have more than half to do in SFMA and little bits and pieces to do in Audit, Tax and about 25% in FR.

I am really scared..do you think this is good enough preparation at this stage for atleast 3 of the 4 subjects??

    Need some pep talk!

    Yeah,

I just had a quick go at the past papers, then indexed them for the types of questions.

Had a read of the two books(Institute and Cosserat) and tabbed the pages for prccedures.

Also have a few pages of condensed notes of what standards cover what and where you could put them in an answer.

If only the other three were as straightforward as audit looks to be!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 120 ✭✭Coldplayer

yeah i didnt go as far as index them, if you look at page 345 in the book it does it for you
