    Gaza blockade protest

It's a picture of nothing happening dude....no context, no strength. could be 2 random people anywhere....Sorry but it is weak docu photog. It doesn't tell me its a protest. It could be 2 girls waiting for the bus. Mabye next time try capture something about the protest that beams the concept of the photo (ie protest) without any explaination?

maybe I'm biased cycling by the protests every day in London and see a more militant side of things....hundreds of cops...lots of tension :(

    ..led torch...

Can you give me some details on what you did? I have a stupidly bright led torch that might be useful.

Ha ha, ya the brighter the better, well for the photographer anyway :)
There's no fancy technique, I just stuck the camera on a tripod, switched it to the 2 second timer mode and messed around with the shutter speed and aperture. I just held the torch in different positions until i was happy with the shadows. i think i used the lowest aperture setting which was a lousey f5.6 or something, a shutter speed of 1/15th of a sec and iso 800. this probably didn't help in any way :)

Was the light close to your subjects face or did you shine it from far away? Did you shine it from underneath, to the side or directly in their face?

Sorry for the questions but it's an excellent photo so I'm curious.

Thank you for your comments. It is just one of many I took that evening and maybe I should have put them all together. My photography is not going to get you up and dancing, I know that. But I enjoy what I do.

Took a photo I had and messed around with some of the textures linked to earlier in the thread (thank you!). First time posting. Not really sure if it has any merit? I don't know. Nice memento of an amazing place anyway.

I think it is a great image (possibly would benefit for a tighter crop??) and a fantastic first post here...keep 'em coming:)

Byron Bay, at the beach for the sunset. The people sitting down in the shot are playing bongos and drums for the sun and asking it to return the next day. Heaven!
