Maxxis Columbiere vs CONTINENTAL TWO X GP4000

    hi,

    i will be getting planet x.

    i see they come with maxxis columbiere are they just as good as CONTINENTAL TWO X GP4000?

    or importantly what are the best ideal tyre to use.

    The Columbiere is an excellent tyre, from a grip perspective.

    What are you looking for in a tyre? 'Good', as in puncture-resistant? Lightweight? Low rolling resistance? Cushy ride?

    2004 review here.

    Compared to the Conti Two X GP4000, I'd say the Columbiere will out-corner (but would you ever corner at the limit of adhesion?) the Conti, puncture sooner, spin up faster (weighs less).

    My opinion: the Columbiere is a criterium racing tyre. The Conti is more all-purpose, well suited to Irish road racing and training.

    However, the Columbiere is pretty good value....can't knock that.
