''windows coiuld not start properly , a recent hardware change could have caused this .,.....bla bla bla

It gives the option to start in safe mode , last know configuration etc .

Tried all these and still nothing happens .

Can you post the exact error message.
Did you add any new hardware?
Did the PC crash the last time you were using?

Not to be pedantic, but the term would be load or boot, not upload.. upload would be putting images on facebook, or adding files to a website.. ;-)

ok good post.. that gives a lot of information. Just one more question: exactly how far does the boot process get.. do you see the Windows splash screen , or log in screen, is there any further messages? Also, do you have the original Windows XP CD that came with the computer?

I've seen a lot of problems like this happen because of Windows Updates, but I'm not gonna pre-empt the diagnosis.

Argh, hate this. Sen this a few times where the OS has become corrupt and/or a virus.

If you have tried to get into safe and can't then the last option would be to try and repair to operating system. Windows XP. As the above post asks, do you have the Windows XP cd?

Was gonna suggest the Repair Install, Goose, but tbh it NEVER EVER worked for me, and I've done it about 20 times.. the error, whatever the cause, always seems to remain after the Repair Install.. have you ever got it to work?

There are white lines along the bottom of the screen and the boot process moves along about 1 inch when i ask to boot at last know config .
    It freezes there
