Removing UPC cables

    If you cancel UPC will they come and remove the cables from the outside of the house.

    No, the cables on your house also serve your neighbours.

    Surely if its your property you can get them removed? whats the legality of it.

    I have no idea. Removing them will affect all of your neighbours on one side. It is possible that once they're installed they have to be there for some amount of time. Removing them will make it difficult for anyone in your house (ever) to sign up again. I would contact UPC about it.

    All they have to do is run a cable to the neighbours from a different route. If thats a problem. The UPC service we get is poor, and the cables, boxes on the house seem to be growing. Just want to get rid of it now.

    UPC have upset my neighbour and he has withdrawn permission for the cables to run along his house - UPC have been out trying to come up some way of by-passing his house and keep everyone else connected.

    I don't know the legal position but i can confirm that UPC are going to remove the cables from the neighbours property.

    There may be a "wayleave" in existence between any previous owners (if any) of your property and NTL/UPC.

    If there was, it may complicate matters.

    I've seen some unbelievably ugly amplifier installations appearing in parts of Cork and Dublin just whacked onto the gable walls of end-of-terrace houses etc etc.

    It's really not surprising that people get annoyed with them. I don't think any other utility company would get away with this kind of behaviour.

    Especially if your getting poor service from then. You don't really want to facilitate them in anyway.
