My laptop, a Compaq F730US, has decided not to have wireless connection anymore. The wifi connection is not enabled. Its not listed in the device manager either. I have tried reinstalling the HP wireless assistant but this hasnt worked.
When I open the HP wireless assistant the Wireless Lan is listed as "disabled" and I cannot uncheck the box

Has anybody ever had a problem like this or can anybody shed any light on how to solve it?

I have a similar problem with my Compaq Presario laptop. Basically the wireless button on the keyboard has stopped working. The Wireless Assistant is telling me that wireless is disabled - but there is no way to enable it! I've even gone into the BIOS and enabled the network card that way - but no joy. I also re-installed the driver but that didn't work either. Serious design flaw that there isn't a way to override the wireless button.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful.

I took the plunge and just went ahead and bought a usb wireless adapter (less than €20). It defeats the purpose of having a laptop without wireless and given my laptop is over 3 years old, would cost too much to send it to HP for them to figure it out.

I did the same too - I've had a good look on the net and there doesn't seem to be an easy solution - apart from re-formatting the hard drive:eek:

    Best of luck!
