Kathryn Thomas has had her innings to be honest. She was the only one who really benefitted from the series....and the likes of Fiona Looney and her ilk. As if watching a faux celebrity like her camping in France with her family really made me want to book my next holiday on the spot. Laughable.

Kathryn Thomas is now filling in for Ryan Tubridy on the radio occasionally. Don't think she'll be filling any vacant 2fm slots anytime soon.

Show was very dull compared to TV3's travel show.. Ciara and Jon inject humour into the show at every turn.. and Ciara is far more attractive than Kathryn Thomas...

The curse of Sile Seoige strikes again, is there anyway someone can convince her to run for FF in Dublin South.......

hopefully she might have some role in kilkenny's championship preparations also ;):pac:

Just saw Kathryn Thomas on Winning Streak. How does she get any presenting work on television?

the episode with Michelle Doherty in her bikini was pretty good.

Some episodes Kathryn seemed to look pretty hot. Other episodes not so much.

On Winning Streak she never looks that great imho.

Maybe they could save a few moneys by not jetting off to 7 star resorts in the Indian ocean. The should focus on more affordable holidays.

It was a cr@p show. The show was RTE's way of paying bonuses to its rubbish presenters by sending them to expensive holidays that not many would be able to afford these days.

yeah your right this is the crowd that sent joe duffy on a two day train journey i think from bern/someplace in switzerland to paris and and it cost 2k but according to joe well worth it for the silver service, to be honest it might have been only €1800:)

Trevor, you're a frequent apologist for RTE.
Are they looking after you well?

Sorry to drag this thread up, but I've just come across this in the Herald (specifically, the bit entitled "Sexism? Ageism? TV folk get axed all the time. It's the way of the world, Flo"):

    http://www.herald.ie/opinion/michael-odoherty-sneering-shah-should-know-better-2524041.html

Silly I know, but I guess it is a partial reminder of what No Frontiers was like when it started.

I presume, too, that "Groovejet" became the theme tune at the same time that Kathryn took over - which would suggest that both were part of a comprehensive revamp.

Micheal O'Doherty is a funny little man

He want's to know why Hot Press got a free hour long ad over any other publication in Ireland. I think RTÉ produced a doc on The Irish Press (but I suppose that publication is dead and no competition to MOD's own publications).

Hot Press was celebrating an anniversary. RTÉ and the IFB produced a documentary on its lifetime in Irish shops. These types of Docs are done quite often about the media. Of course MOD didn't get a free advert for his own titles on RTÉ's "The Saturday Night Show". Why over anyone else is MOD being interviewed on RTÉ and being given a free advert (or is that Product Placement). So I wonder what has Hot Press done over VIP and TV Now? Didn't RTÉ produce a doc a while back about the highs and lows of John Ryan and his Doggie Magazine? A Doggie Magazine about Dog fashion

Then of course he is right about Flo and about Sha. It is just the media of business. No Frontiers was completely different after she left, due to the presenting team being roled into just Kathryn Tomas. As for Sha and his Karma, MOD is right don't hold grudges. However I was am surprised that Flo didn't get any presenting jobs after No Frontiers. Marty Whelan could have said is replacement on Winning Streak was about ageism and sexism, but then Marty returned a year later.

But then MOD would want to take his own advice. :(

I had to go and google who Ray Shah was after I read that article.

Personal grudges like that being played out on Twitter isn't the smartest thing to do. But people love to bitch. Mind you I don't think Una Mallally is that great of a journalist, a bit too quick to refer to members of bands by their first name to ensure people know she knows them - but I wouldn't wish unemployment on her or take delight in her losing her job.

Flo was probably promised more time on No Frontiers, assured Kathryn wouldn't replace her and then dumped out. You can see why she'd be p*ssed off but to be still going on about it 8 or 10 years later? Time to give it a rest I think.

i dislike Ray Shah, but dislike Una Mullally even more, so it's win-win in my mind. some of her opinions on music make me cringe (apparently no-one rapped about anything other than guns and drugs before Kanye West came along), and she seems to think most things in life are a sexist conspriacy against women.

Apparently it's another show to bite the dust because of high production costs.
How could the production costs be so high, surely they got everything like food and accommodation for free? I thought that was the whole reason there was so many of these shows, they where easy and inexpensive to make because the holiday destinations would provide everything for free to promote their business.

I'd say there was probably a lot of costs you wouldn't think about like accommodation and transport for the filming crews, a whole teams of editors, producers etc back home putting it together and I wouldn't think everything was given to them for free.

It is more a holiday show than product placement. While Ryan Air was giving out to them about using Aer Lingus prices I think they paid for the flights and just used Aer Lingus as a guide. But you would have to ask the producers what they got for free and what they didn't get for free.

She has her own alternative music show on TG4
