Meh. Anyone can take their foot off the accelerator ;)

ah but why would that make a difference? if you put it in neutral it would but otherwise the engine will keep rotating at whatever revs but use no fuel ;)

and gradually slow down as the speed drops

    120km/h @ ~3500 r/min

I usually keep to 100km/h even on a motorway cos the fuel consumption really goes through the fecking roof:o Ah well thats AWD for ya.

3900rpm at 120 but with the noise the engine makes it sounds more like 5500rpm!!

    04 Mazda 6 1.8L - I'm fairly sure mine does closer to 3,500 in 5th gear. I hope it's not sick.

I don't get it...why would you want to know what rpm your engine does at 120kph? If its a fuel economy thing, there's a lot more behind a fuel map than just engine speed.

My old Fiat 126 had a max speed of 105kph with a favourable breeze, a steep slope and a solid set of rosary beads. At that stage, I'd imagine it's little "flat 2" was throwing out all of its 24 horses at about 4,500rpm, just like washing machine on wheels would do.

Why, because it interests me. If your not interested, why reply? This is a motors forum after all.
I once had a 2003 1.4 civic that buzzed down the motorway at 4000rpm at the speed limit and it became tiresome. My current car doesn't & i'll be sure my next car is the same

Mine actually drops very quickly (and gains too when you floor it), it's a CVT.

05 focus 1.4 5 speed think it does about 4000

Suppose it depends on the gradient but I think you're well off there. I have a 2002 1.4l Focus at get 120kmph in 5th year with 3000-3200

    MK4 Golf 1.4
At 120 is usually sitting at around 3700 to 3800. Will do it in 4th at approx 4600rpm
In fifth it will hit 135 at 4000rpm. I don't like to push it past 4000 as it then starts drinking juice like it's going out of fashion.

    120km @ 3500 afair, could be 4000

1977 Ford Escort 1.3 4 speed - 5200rpm at 120kph. And thanks to the trusty crossflow, it'll rev higher......

    2005 Almera 5speed - 3500(ish) I think.
