    Side note, I thought that the police departments in major US cities such as Baltimore would be employing the use of a secure radio system by now?

    american police dept's use some pretty antiquated radio systems, if what i've heard from various sources is correct.

    I think the term used was ww2 technology

    I've a scanner app on the iPhone and you can get Police and Fire from pretty much all the major cities in the US - NY, DC, LA etc.
