This is going to be front page news in tomorrows News of the World apparently. They claim to have recorded John Higgins agreeing to fix a match for money. If true this is an absolute disaster for the sport. To be honest Higgins is just about the last player I would have suspected of doing something liek this. Shocking news altogether.

The sport could do with a shakeup tbh.

Indeed, straight as an arrow you'd have thought. NOTW sadly is usually right when it breaks this kind of story.

Yep, no way the paper could be making up a story of this magnitude. Higgins would sue them to kingdom come if this wasn't true. Still shocked by this. Higgins of all people.

This has to be the worst thing possible. It's one thing for it to be Jamie Burnett but Higgins.

Very bad day for the sport if this is the case. Even worse with the world final tomorrow and him being last years world champion. Now way its mad up either, NoTW would be commiting suicide going with a mad up story of this magnitude.
They would only run if if and when the had enough evidence.

I was going to say the same thing... has put a dampener on that great result.

I also would have said he was a straight player through and through. Im disgusted.

If it's true this could be the end of Higgins career. Quinten Hann got an eight year ban and a ten grand fine when he was caught a few years back.

Very disappointing. John Higgins is one of my favorite players and has the persona of a model professional...this is going to seriously tarnish his career.

well fuck him him anyway! i met him once and thought i could never meet a nicer more down to earth person, and its all just a facade. :(

its surely the end of his playing days now and rightly so.
how stupid is he to risk his absolutely massive reputation for the sake of €300k when he has won over £5m in prize money alone. like companies, reputations take years to build but can all crumble down over night.

    truly shocking.
im going to bed tonight as a severely let down snooker fan

Meh. I think its worse that this will cast a shadow over his whole career tbh.

i'm so p*ssed off right now.

what a moron to risk it all for €300,000.

from what i've heard over the years, he's as tight as a duck's a*se too, so it's not like he's squandered the millions he's made.

as black a day for the sport as is possible.

    thanks John.

i can't wait to hear the f*cking explanation behind it; not that we're likely to get one.

watch the video, its true alright.

i was praying that this was some kind of wind up but its not

I don't think it casts too much doubt over the Davis win last week. It's a bit of a leap from throwing four individual frames in snooker league matches to throwing an entire match in something like the World Championship.

On top of the Stephen lee stories, it sure doesn't help the sport, and it's a crying shame he could be that greedy.

    indeed

" audience and viewers at home, you have 5 minutes to get your votes in on

    WHO WILL TOSS THE FRAME...!!!!!!!!

1000e up from grabs folks, lets roll..........."

    now, now

his plot was to 'lose' some frames, thats all......

    still, Higgins, wtf lad.

He was one of my most favourite players. I always considered him an absolute professional. His career is over. A disgrace.

When i watched his interview after getting beaten by davis he had "I just got a massive pay off anyway" written all over his face

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,909 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

i'm in complete shock. Completely unexpected from Higgins. What a f*cker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 420 ✭✭KrazeeEyezKilla

He even jokes about the man being a reporter in the video. After all the publicity recently about match fixing and with the meeting happening during the World Championship, the time the press covers Snooker most. How stupid can you get.
