Hi guys,

i am considering returning to full-time education. can anyone tell me does the maintenance grant i would be entitled to interfere with the mortgage interest supplement i receive from the HSE. I Have a feeling it is means tested.

can anyone shed some light on this for me? and if so how is it calculated?

You are not entitled to get Mortgage Interest Supplement if you are in Full Time education unless you qualify for BTEA. If you qualify for BTEA you won't be able to get a maintenance grant.

Thank you. I am not sure whether or not I am entitled to BTEA grant. I will have to check this out as this may restrict me in my choices.

Back to Education Allowance isn't a grant it is a welfare payment. To be eligable you have to have been getting certain social welfare payments for 12 months continuously before you apply for BTEA.
