    Irish-87% A :)
French-89% A (my teacher said our paper was insultingly easy)
Maths-73% B (went down on stuff we hadn't covered but I know it now)
    Science-63% C :/ (worst subject, terrible teacher!)
History-77% B (hopefully will go up, we hadn't don ww2 and stuff)
    Geog-94% A :o (No idea how i did it)
    Cspe-95% A
    German-71% B :D
    Business-73% B (another terrible teacher)
We didn't do an art mock, working on the project instead.

Ehhh, mocks were like a month and a half ago but seeing as I'm new (like Parawhore)...

My only A was in English. Highest score in my year. Feels good, bros.

Then I got a B in Geography, French and CSPE. Geography and CSPE I was particularly disappointed with because I got an 83 and an 84 in them respectively... so close to an A.

Got a C in Business and Science, which was alright because I was sick doing both of them.

Got a D in Mathematics, which was probably the most disappointing result because I was aiming for a high B/low A.

And I failed Technical Graphics. I hate the subject and I'm not doing it for the leaving certificate so I decided to drop down to pass level. Feels weird doing a pass level subject.

So... yeah. All over the place.

I can't remember whether I posted my full results and since I'm procrastinating anyway I might aswell :pac:

    All HL.
French: 83% (Written was 87%, Listening brought me down)
History: 77% (God I hate Irish History XD)
    Geography: 63%
    Irish: 62%
    English: 94% (So pleased!)
Maths: 62% (Maths is... not my strong point :D)
Religion: 86% (No studying for this but my teacher marked it so...)
CSPE: 85% (Forgot to finish my Action Project XD)
    Music: 87%
Science: 58% (Urgh... blanked on the paper)
Art: We did an exam in September. I got a high B/low A or something...

Overall I got 4 As, 2 Bs and 4 Cs. Feel that I could do better than that in the actual exams. If I can get a high C/low B in Irish, B's and a few As in everything else and pass the Maths exam in the Junior Cert. then I'll be happy :p

The people who have 12 subjects - how many class periods a week do you have? Do you do PE? Computers?

I do 12 but I do music outside of school. We do 9 in school and 3rd years have 1 class of IT and PE a week.

My results were... (all Higher Level)
Geography- 98%:D (was thrilled!, I love Geog.)
    History- 96%:D
CSPE- 89% (I lost like 10 mks for not colouring in my poster, I forgot them! I also lost some mks for not having realistic opinions- which is stupid.)
    Maths- 89%
    Irish- 87%
Religion- 86% ( was v. happy because I was actually marked unfairly- should of got higher..)
    Science- 86%
    German- 85%
    Business- 85%
English- 65% (:( maybe the reason this is my only C is the fact that I had like 9 English teachers over the past 3 years because of maternity leave/ subs/ changes of job position etc... also because it was a very picky examiner)

    We had no Art mock..

It varies totally from one corrector to another.
I know for my own LC mocks, one of our teachers had them corrected and finished the day we sat them but I dont think thats likely for most.
If youre getting them sent away they can take a few weeks to get back, but if its youre own teachers doing them you should have them back the week after midterm!

Ok, I'm pretty sure our mocks are being sent away! We had to write the school address on front of paper etc. Also, Damn! Couple of weeks? Ain't nobody got time fo dat'! After I've handed up my paper I'm looking forward to seeing my results even If I know I did badly!
Thanks for VERY prompt reply didn't realise this website was even like active.

You would have been told by your teachers if they were being sent away to be corrected because youd have to pay extra! But yea I think we were told maybe 2/3 weeks after midterm before we'll get ours back(Hopefully sooner tho)
And haha, just so happens Im subscribed to this thread from many moons ago so it came up for me to have a look at! And while speaking of that, this isnt really the right place for this conversation either.. Its just for posting results!

    Ah such memories. <3

Looking at the results I got here and the results I got in the JC, it's amazing what can be done in the next 4 months with some work. Remember they're not the end of the world. :)

There are far worse things you could be than bad at maths.

Where to start ... you could be on drugs, caught shoplifting, dying of something terrible?

The point is, not everyone is great at Maths and no amount of going mad by parents will change that. Maths may not be your forte at all and that's OK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 300 ✭✭positivealf

I don't understand how math can not be my forte, i thought with hard work comes great success, i'm going to be good at math.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Education Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 27,445 CMod ✭✭✭✭spurious

Life doesn't work like that. Some people no matter how hard they try will never make great footballers or dancers, or singers, or German speakers or mathematicians.
It's not the end of the world.

Success does come with hard work, but not if there is no aptitude in the first place.

You are born with an Inate ability to comprehend mathematics and have a logical mathematical state of mind.
My opinion is that it is not something that can be obtained from hardwork. The only place success comes before work is the dictionary however you have to have a certain aptitude to start with .

I got a D in science for mocks. In my opinion this is terrible and I know I can do way better but i barely studied. What do you guys think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,080 ✭✭✭EoghanIRL

Well 35 per cent is course work so it should be relatively easy to get a good result .. Look at past papers , the same things come up year in year out .

This is true, you can work for ages at maths and not improve, it's a subject which you really have to 'get' and not pressure yourself into knowing. You may be better at Linguistics etc.. different types of intelligences

Irish 45% absoleutly gutted with that
Maths 69% paper 2 let me down
Geography 77% thought i would get an a
History 60% what on earth happened. I thought it would be an a as i am very good at history
    English 60% dissapointed with that
Classical studies 37% I just hate that subject and will probably drop down to pass level. definetly won't do it for leaving cert no matter what.
