Sorry George I have to take that hat off you I really deserve it.

Was looking at the Chelsea fixture list, and forgot about the Fa Cup final even though I talked about it in my post.

True, I'm still a bit worried about Wigan though, they ended our title challenge a few seasons ago when we were cruising at home against them and then Heskey equalized in the last minute. Actually thought Bolton were going to do the same thing to us last night.

First thing I thought of last night was that Wigan game actually.

Commentators mentioned it too actually. And had Elmander shown a bit of composure at the far post he could easily have scored.

A draw away to spurs and a draw/loss at Liverpool for Chelsea are two very possible results.

Of course a draw/loss at Citeh for United is also just as likely so really the next game is extremely critical for United.

Stoke have been beaten only twice in the last 14 matches.

Havn't been beaten away in 8 matches.

Wigan hopefully are still in danger of the drop the last day of the season if gets that far.

Basically beat City Saturday and hope Spurs can get a result at home.

    They did last season.

Either way things will become alot clearer Saturday evening.

The group considering a bid to take over Manchester United is meeting on Wednesday to discuss proposals to tempt wealthy investors to join them.

The Red Knights strategy group may sign off on a document that would explain how the new ownership model would work at the Premier League club.

"Red Knights are looking to raise around £700m for the bid," said BBC Sports Editor David Bond.

"They are looking for 30 to 40 wealthy Red Knight investors."

He added: "What is being discussed is exactly how they go about investing, how much they will need to invest and what stake they will get in return."

The Glazer family paid £800m to buy the club in 2005, but supporters' groups are opposed to their continued ownership, opposition that intensified in January when it was revealed that United had been saddled with massive debts in excess of £700m

As well as major investment from super-wealthy supporters of the club from the UK and abroad, including city bankers and lawyers, the Red Knights also hope to raise smaller sums from ordinary fans.

Their plans are also thought to include allowing major investors to sell part their stakes in the club to fans if the takeover is successful.

The Red Knights have, however, already said they will not make an offer to the Glazer family, until the end of the season.

But the American owners maintain the club is not for sale - just as they did when a Chinese consortium expressed an interest in December 2009.

No official announcement is expected from the Red Knights on Wednesday, but the meeting could result in the group drawing a step closer to finalising the blueprint for fan ownership of the Premier League's richest club.

"The Glazer family have repeatedly said that the club is not for sale, but remember these investors are serious people with serious reputations, led by Jim O'Neill, the head of global economic research at Goldman Sachs," said Bond.

"They are determined to put a credible bid together and tempt the glazers into selling the club."

was reading this about Hargreaves earlier: "His training performances have been fine but I think at the moment midfield is not an issue for us because we have plenty of alternatives." - Fergie

I did lol a bit but what do people think? if he does get fit next season do you think its likely that he will get injured again relatively quickly? the club have invested a lot in him (wages, transfer fee, medical bills) so do you think maybe its time to cut their losses in the summer and maybe sell him on or stick with him?
personally Id stick with him as Im a fan of the player. when he is fit a firing hes a great player and probably a step above fletcher in overall play. with anderson not really looking like hes going to get up to much it might be a good opportunity for Utd to revamp their midfield in the summer. its unlikely that carrick will be sold so a midfield trio of hargreaves, carrick and whoever else would be good. someone a bit attack minded that can link up well with rooney. any ideas?

How come Obertan hasn't been used as a sub more often? He looks dangerous everytime I've seen him play.

It might be a bit harsh but his decision making is not the best and final ball, he reminds me of Wallcott. I don't think we will see until next season.

pretty much this. When it 'clicks' for him he looks great, cause he has all the ingredients, but he is very inconsistent.

Some of the stuff he was doing last night was great though.

I can't wait to see Obertan next season, I think he's gonna be immense in the next few years.

I know some posters disagree, can't see why tbh. He looks like one of the most naturally talented youngsters we have.

He's still pretty raw of course, but he looks like the real deal to me.

Obertan I felt should got more time in the United bench at least. Really did not get the run he deserved I felt myself. He is inconsistent but that hopefully will improve over time. Hope he gets a decent chance next season.

Because of Nani's return to some sort of form, Park had a good spell and Valencia has been great all year. He will get his chances. He is hugely talented and I have high hopes for him.

    Loved this:

Alot like our young michael jackson look-a-like. I do have high hopes for Obertan though.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Oliver Kay of the Times says that, according to a (Barca based) Spanish newspaper, Real Madrid will let Benzema go in the summer for a cut-price £17 million.

If this is true we should snap him up in a second, but I have my doubts Real would part with him so early.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

£17m is more than reasonable for a player of his potential. Some have been put off by his season at Real, but he just doesnt fit in there, maybe Fergie can get the best out of him. A Rooney-Benzema partnership would strike fear into the heart of any defence.

Yep agree. Love see him at United and if true on price that be saving us 13mill+ on what we were going buy him at.

    Fergie sign him up.
