Playing through car stero

So I always have my iPhone playing through my car speakers using one of them cassette adapter thingies and love it cos I listen to a lot of poscasts etc and generally hate the radio. I had to change my car in a hurry there over the weekend and the new car has a CD player instead of a tape deck. What are my options for playing MP3 players in a car like this? I've had a look and don't think the stero has an aux socket, so can't connect it that way. The stero's also built into the dash so I cNt replace it with a tape-playing version.
As an aside, why the hell are car manufacturers so behind in this area? The car I'm in now is an 07. You'd think an mp3 connection should be standard enough by 07. Who still carries piles of CDs in their cars??

You can split the speaker wires from the back of the stereo but you are limited to the phone's amp.

Get an audio sender, it pops into earphone socket on iPhone, it's about 2 inches in size, tune your stereo into 81.80 or what ever the sender is, and that's it, it'll come out the speaker, it's so small u can bring it anywhere, i'm a chippy, I have it plugged to my big stereo and have the San fran rock station The Bone blaring out metallica all day at work !!

    Its an 07 Nissan Almera.

Where would one get an audio sender, Bobby, and what kind of price are you talking about?

Another option is a fm transmitter like this one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-TuneCast-Auto-iPod-iPhone/dp/B001ILDK6G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1271272836&sr=8-1

I have one of these (bought in an O2 store for €40) for about 10 months now and it works perfectly and charges your iphone/ipod at the same time. Occasionally you have to retune to a clear frequency but I've only had to do that a couple of times. Best option if you don't have a bluetooth stereo or an aux in port on your stereo. Dedicated handsfree kits like the Parrot mk9200 that do calls and music streaming cost €250!!!
