Can you actually afford one :eek::eek: ?

Have never read anything to suggest they were illegal.
    Would love one myself.

ever see these, not your typical greyscale like you see on FLIR cameras but more like Predator vision

Tis a rumor knockin around for a while now afaik :). I can't see them buying it. Google don't usually spend money to lose money. Bebo will most likely be gone by may, into the abyss of the interweb. I guess there'll probably be a mad dash by people to get all their photo's before it's gone.

I doubt they will myself tbh.

Well Tagged should do good now when Bebo's out of the picture :D.

    Here's a question for you computer-literate/gamer types:

Does on-line gaming suck much of your monthly download allowance? By that I mean compared to 'normal' internet surfing?

Thinking of changing my broadband provider but am unsure what package to go for as they have different limits. The youngfella is getting into gaming online so want to be able to accommodate him too without breaking the bank!

Depends on the game. If there's any VOIP(Voice Chat) on it then it shoots right up.

You can probably use your router to do a test. Turn everything off but one PC, then go reset the counters and shut that PC down. Boot XBOX/PS3/Gaming PC and begin playing(If PC then results will likely be biased by updaters etc). Play say 30 mins and then go and check the counters.

Remember, playing on a 32 player server is significantly heavier than playing on a 5 players server(counting players, not slots).

He doesn't use VOIP (yet!). He plays COD 4 & 5 online although I can't check stats at the mo as Eircom sent me a new Zyxel modem a few weeks ago and I can't get his PS3 on-line now! I had it sussed (eventually) with the old Netopia one but this has my head melted (those that know me well know that I 'don't do computers' :o)!
Anyway, that's only half the battle as the quality of my broadband service is beyond a joke at this point and that's why I'm looking at changing providers. As far as I'm concerned Eircom can FOAD - I've been a business customer for years and I'm paying €40 (PLUS VAT) a month for something that at times is worse than dial-up! Tech-support are sick of me and I've changed modems 3 times now.
UPC is looking good at the mo!

Im only over the road from ya here Gar and have the UPC 20MB ultra package, i think its 40-50 quid a month and its been good. the 20meg is overkill for whay you'll be needing but their 10mb is unlimited too. you wont regret moving from eircom anyway, thats for sure. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,397 ✭✭✭MerryDespot

    Eircom broadband = evil IMHO.
Had eircom - found it horrible for xbox live. Switched to ntl - never had a serious issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,226 ✭✭✭gerrowadat

just online gaming isn't going to push you over any sane monthly limit.

UPC/NTL say they are unlimited but it's actually 250Gb per month, but what normal person is going to come close to that.

I hardly ever broke my 30Gb limit with Eircom and the few times I did they didn't charge me but that was 3-4 years ago. Same with Magnet, they don't charge for going over, well they don't enforce it yet.

Now with UPC and the most I ever used was about 60Gb with my 10meg connection, that was with Skype calls, alot of video streaming, lots of gaming and alot of HD quality movie downloads.

****ing rathgar ****ing exchange. I want NTL goddamnit:mad:

    You're right, eircom are pants.

I doubt you'll get a reply here, but if you head over to the Motor fourm they might be able to help you after a few smart arse comments :)

Hey Simon - if it's not too bad a burn Halfords do a repair kit that you can do yourself. Failing that Carcraft in Fairview are supposed to be very good - prices for burn repairs are from €60 + vat.

PS: I see mle1324 was right - the motoring forum did pull the p1ss out of you! ;)

It seems car issues are rife atm :)

I reversed into my sister's car this morning on my way to Portumna and mangled the right rear wheel well. I need to get it reparied but I'm not sure how much it will cost.

That's only the start of it. I'm having one of those ****e days when nothing goes my way. I'm half expecting a call telling me I killed someone in work last week.

the rear arch? ouch, quarter repairs are a lot more expensive than the wings, :D

    how bad is it?

Hang on a sec, I'll get a photo.

Forget the rear bumper, that's plastic transfer and should come off with some isopropanol (thanks Defenderdude). It's the actual rear quarter panel that took the main impact, There's not much paint removed, but the dent is horrendous.

First "accident." Bright side: noone was injured, just my ego.

I was quoted 800 quid at a maindealer to take a ding out of the rear wheel well a few months back.
