Just got NTL DVR (ontime and without issues orhidden costs)

I noticed an ethernet and USB ports at the back. There is no related info in the DVR manual available on the UPC site however.

Has anyone experimented with these ports?
    What are the possibilities ?

    Both are disabled.
USB could be used for expansion of recording storage space eg. allow you connect a portable hard drive for extra recording capacity, or allow you to transfer recordings to view on a laptop or PC.
Ethernet port is to allow the DVR's built in cable modem to provide internet access on your PC, instead of them having to install a seperate STB and cable modem for customers taking broadband and internet. UPC don't take advantage of this feature in Ireland. It's pretty likely they won't either.
