I just deleted my bebo page. Gonna delete my Facebook if the ****ers start chargning money for it. FFS there's a recession on and they already make lots of money in advertising.

I can't see facebook beginning to charge members a subscription fee as they would ultimately just end up losing 95% of their users as they migrate to one of the many other free networks. They may start charging for photo uploads etc as the load becomes greater though.

Theres just a few reasons, but in short you get a kick out of it then more power to you I just dont see the fuss tbh.

OK, it doesn't offer you much, but that doesn't mean the service is pointless for the many millions who do have a use for it.

For a lot of people, the main benefit is that it integrates their contacts, calendars, photos, instant messaging and to a large degree their emails.

The only complaint from non-users that I can understand is having photos uploaded by their friends without their consent or knowledge. Any other complaints come across as whinging for the sake of it. I'm probably coming across as a fervent supporter of it - but I'm not on it all that often. I just don't get why people get so condescending about others who do use it.

Sad to see Bebo go as it was the first step for many into the Social Networking world.

Give it time and Im sure Facebook will go in the same direction as Bebo. Something new and better will come along eventually as people's tastes change.

Hey, since you don't have a facebook page, and neither do I, and neither do a few others on this thread, and since that's something we have in common, why not we create a website where we can all make friends? We can chat and share pictures and even poke each other.

I hear ya. I suppose its just the fad factor and the phenomenon per se versus the practicality. The lack of privacy on FB's part tho would freak me out if I was a user. ie they seem to have issues deleting stuff and you rasied a good point about pics being used without peoples consent but thats the internet for ye!

I won't miss it. It won't let me view anyone's content unless I have an account with them, and I don't give out my details to just anybody. Boards.ie is different. I was a lurker for about a month before I got round to signing up.

I used to be an avid Bebo user, as were all my friends, when we were in college but it just got overrun with kids and there were accounts being hacked as well.
Plus the new design they brought in was just rape for the eyes.

I'm on Facebook now, it's much better. Mostly use it for sharing photos and for chatting with friends on the other side of the world who I can't afford to visit any time soon

I always hated Bebo, I had it years ago when everyone was signing up but I deleted my profile after three or four months. When I went to delete my account these messages came up saying something like "What? You really wan't to delete your account? Are you sure? There must be something wrong with you but, OK, your account will be deleted." Idiots.

I like Facebook though, it's easier to use, easier to look at and whereas Bebo was only popular in Ireland and the UK, Facebook is popular all over the world. And there's less kids and pikeys on it.

Not an option for me unless I were to either commute 200 miles on a regular basis or (for one person) fly across the other side of the world. Facebook is great for things like that.

I won't miss Bebo, haven't used it for about a year and a half. AOL wrecked it but it was going downhill anyway.

Bebo was great years ago - simple, user-friendly, relatively innocent in its intentions. Then the pornstars started harassing me and the homepage went mental. When they tried to copy Facebook's apps, that's were it all went haywire. Deleted my account a year ago.

What idiot in AOL justified paying that money for it? Anyone could have told them it was a **** idea 3 years ago for a fraction of that cost.

Done that last night...547 photos of nights out, college stuff, friends and gigs like Metallica and Muse, pretty much unreplaceable and now stored on an external drive:D
