    Cant comprahend this berbatov barrage.

Did people think he was going to come and score 20 goals a season?

Can I just point people to some of the following statistics

    Totenham Hottspurs

    102 games 46 goals

    Bayern Leverkusen

    200 games 90 goals

    Man United

    80 games 26 goals.

He isnt a prolific goalscorer, that not what he was bout for. He was bought so that they could have a player linking with the midfield and filling in that gap between the front line and midfielders.

It seems all the pundits and "united" fans are judging him on his goalscoring rate. You see its very hard to have a statistical fact for how a link up man does. But from what I've seen over the very limited time Berbatov has had on the pitch, he has done well. Better then any other option on the united bench, and from the very, very limited selection of intellegent talented linkup players, he is one of the top.

This season he has been cast aside by Rooney. Berbatov isnt going to shine in the champions league games, where united play a 1 up front system with rooney spearheading it. But based on some of play I see from Berba I think your mad to want rid of him.

If he was playing 90 minutes every week and being muck id understand, as it is hes playing limited time and doing well.

Carrick is a no brainer to be released, couldnt understand why he was bought and dont understand what he is good for.

His shooting accuracy is terrible, his dispersion of the ball is weak at best and his tackling is terrible.

I was shocked that united didnt pick up sneijdar or van der vaart in the summer, and opportunities like that dont come up often, and that opportunity has passed : /

Get real will you, Bayern players got him sent off and he was unlucky.

While already on a yellow card, he started fouling Ribery in the centre circle, when it was completely unnecessary to do so. That's dumb, and he should get an unmerciful bollocking for doing so. But that's the third order of business, the first and second should be tear up Carrick and Berbatov's contracts, as both of them are a waste of space. [Anyone notice how Nani sprinted at the Bayern keeper countless times to pressure him, even late into the game, whereas Berbatov comes on with his fresh legs and... jogs at him?! Has anyone ever seen Berbatov sprint?]

And for the rte lads to say united are done and in crisis is shocking

For 45minutes a 19 year old put Frank ribery in his pocket, and for fun tormented the bayern left back.

Only through over zealous protesting from Ribery did he get sent off.

Fantastic performance from Rafael and he shouldnt be ashamed for one second.

Antonio Valencia was absolutely fantastic, he tore the bayern left flank apart for the first half and created two goals. As the season has progressed he has got better and better and is looking like a really good investment. His defensive work aswell is top notch.

What exactly is the crisis at united, ok you have a weak central midfielder, but a very gifted anderson out injured. And you have a pretty nice 80 odd million to go buy any midfielder you want

**** me i wish my club had this crisis

So more or less 1 in 2 for Bayer, 1 in 2 for Spurs and 1 in 4 for United.

    Brilliant.

One positive from tonight was Gibson.

I thought he ran his heart out, he was possibly our best player in the first half, scored a great goal he also played a great pass to put Rafael through when Rafael should have squared it to rooney. He looked good in tight situations and he added that forward drive from midfield that has been lacking.

Even after the sending off, he was asked to play two roles, on the left wing marking Robben or Lamh and did a fantastic job and had to close down the defenders high up the pitch.

He can hold his head up high tonight.

Completely agree. He's looked good the last few times he played (especially compared to liability mcgee) and even when he isn't having the best game he keeps pressure on and has that absolute bullet of a shot.Tonight he done really well

He sort of came of age didnt he?

I was really impressed. Didnt put a foot wrong (maybe could have done better with his 2nd chance) and scored a huge goal.

I want him starting against Blackburn.

Obviously Carrick has to go, agree with everyone else there.

However, I think Berb's has to go too. He simply doesn't fit in at United. He really p!ssed me off tonight when he came on. A couple of times he was standing still not chasing the ball. He's a fabulous player in the right team, ironically he'd probably do well for Barca, holding the ball up and bringing others into play. At United, his lack of urgency and effort is nowhere near whats expected. I'm sick of him.

We defo need a CM, and I think I at least one new forward. If we get rid of Berbatov, we probably need two. This might be derided but as a cheap option, I would buy Kevin Doyle from Wolves. He'd work hard thats for sure, and gives us another option for some variety. Dont know who else to try get.

We also need a keeper, and the guy I'd sign is that De Gea from Athletico Madrid. He could be an understudy to Van Der Sar and play around half the games. As far as a CM goes, I dont know who. Someone who's creative, and can do box to box. Not many of them. Fabregas, Essien are the best I can think of. Cant see either of them coming though.

Yea he should of buried it, get defending from the ref in fairness though ;).

The best thing about Gibson for me is that he is learning. I used to say "He's good, but he moves around so slow". But every time I see him now he collects the ball behind Carrick, passes it forward and ends up on the edge of the box in front of Carick.

OOOps, Talking about Carrick again! :o

    Carrick, Berbatov, Neville, Scholes OUT

    Lloris, Banega, Gourcuff, Pato IN

Pity it's not this simple thought

I can't see major changes this summer. A lot of the younger players need the chance of a run in the team. If that means a season of coming close but not winning titles so be it. Gibson impressed the hell out of me tonight. Rafael will be one of the if not the best in the world. Evans has massive potential. Maceda and diouf look capable. But these players will not get to improve by sitting on the bench. I only see an experienced goalkeeper coming in the summer really.

you would swear he has played as many brutal games for United as Berba has in a much shorter United career. Delusional would be one word. I seriously dont comprehend how people call for him to be sold considering all he has helped the team achieve yet the likes of Berba can do no wrong in many posters eyes. Beggars belief tbh and a complete overreaction.

A few positives to be taken from tonight...

Rafael handlied Ribery very well in the first half, two silly bookings, but hes only 19. He'll learn from it. Nice to see Nani stepping up and scoring goals when we need them most. Valencia was absolutely fantastic. Gibson played surprisingly well during the first half. O'Shea coming back from injury.

The overreaction is crazy. We were one goal away from being in the semi's for the fourth year in a row. People were talking about the end of MUFC in 2006 after we went out in the group stage and calling for Fergie's head. Were the same people talking so loudly in 2008?

Nani was class tonight, he ran relentlessly all night (12km) and was still sprinting at the final whistle. He even caused problems when asked to go up front on his own, he was isolated and still manaed to hold the ball up create a few chacnes he got the ball, that chance he got when Evra put him through was huge but it was fairly tough.

    Look redout mate.

Im normally a huge Carrick defender. I recognise that in the first nearly seasons with us he played a big part in getting our midfield together and helping us to go onto win 3 titles in a row. During the first 2 and a half season I, like many others, felt he was a solid midfielder who did a steady job for us.

The fact of the matter is that over the last few months he has progressively been getting worse culminating into tonights performance. He was always fairly relaxed on the ball but he is taking the piss at this stage. His passing has gone astray way too often and he gets caught out on the ball way too often. We've needed him to step up as our most experienced midfielder who is able to play every game but far too often hes gone missing.

I have always given him the benefit of the doubt but he needs to take a long hard look at himself and address the shortcomings that have entered his game.

    Hey, it's the knee-jerk brigade!

    with regards?

I think the Carrick stuff has been building.

Other than that, players like Gibson, Nani and I would say red card aside Rafael can be pleased with the shift they put in.

carrick has underformed for that last 2 seasons now, he is a small game player and im tired of your vendetta agains berba too. Im not his biggest fan but in no way do i blame him for anything this season, also the fact he has played well recently
    Hey, it's the knee-jerk brigade!

do you disagree with the anti carrick stuff ?

That is a fair enough stance to take and I can respect it but he wouldnt be the first on my list of players that would need to be shipped out.
