hi, does anyone know the procedure for changing the brake light switch on a 98 Toyota Corolla? does the brake pedal need to be removed?
    thanks

It's on a bracket on top of the pedal assembly held in with a locknut. it simply unscrews. you can also adjust the switch by rotating the switch.

I think I see it alright, it is very akward to get at, do I need to take out the pedal to replace this switch? by the way, is the actual switch the nut you mentioned, with a wire that seems to slip in and out of it as the pedal is pressed? sorry if this sounds confusing

yeah, that's the one. shouldn't need to remove the pedal.
