the lord wept.....is that place still open!? sweet mother of kack its brutal.

    grand couple of fields ruined.

It was about 5 years ago which was the last time I played it.
One day the owner cut a hole on the slope of a 2 tier green.
Flag was at 45 degrees when you put it in the hole.
    Couldn't make it up.

Walton Lodge - Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare

€15 to play 8 streight as a dye holes and one minor dog-leg to finish.
Fairway grass is thick and long and the greens are either very bald/dry mud or gritted (not sanded)

Ah, yes Ladytown. I remember it well.Me and Sportacus in a 4ball with Stpehanie on the bag. Everything was going great until that Robbie Rotten ran off with our ball :(
    Or was that Lazytown....

played in monaghan today in a society paid 40 euros not allowed to hit off the fairways move the ball to the rough to play your second shot greens were full of sand rossmore GC WHAT A JOKE:mad:
Sorry to hear of your experience at Rossmore, this is my home club and I'll admit its not in its best shape at the moment (we've been moving to the side of the fairway for ages now and the greens and tee boxes are poor), it is definitly a much better course in the summer.
Your society should undoubtedly have received some reduced rate, the fact that you were paying summer green fees is unacceptable, and you are completely right to complain. We, like all other clubs need to encourage groups & societies to come back to us not force them away, and I can understand why you are unhappy about what has happened. (not a committee member btw, just a regular member).

Have played R+R in Dunboyne, but I presume we're only giving out about GUI affiliated members courses? Bodenstown (both courses) are the equal worst, that I've played anyway. Truly atrocious.

Value for money-wise, The K Club is the worst

I laughed out loud when I read that.

    Worst:
    Glenamalure
Djouce - a pitch & putt course made into a golf course, also very wet.
Kenmare - Couldn't pay me to play it again, staff really rude, 4 hrs lost for ever.
Clew Bay - Amazing views but not a golf course
    Ross

Others that were ok but wouldn't rush back to play again:
    St Annes
    Castle Hume

Anyone ever play Connemare Isles in west Galway? Short 9 hole course with amazing views but dog rough

When did you last play Kilcock?

Pine Trees near Clane, Co. Kildare.
Big open dry ditches with greens harder than concrete in the summer.
    Uninspiring layout.

    Kilcock GC
Up the field, down the field
Up the field, down the field
    Rinse, lather & repeat . . .

    Ladytown [2nd course in Bodenstown]
Owner takes a whim to go mad with a digger every so often.
Especially in the winter when the place is a quagmire.
Only course I've ever seen open when frozen solid with frost.
It's like playing golf of the Xbox with a cheat.

Worst thing is I've played them all more than once.

definitely lacking tlc but some cracking holes on it and as you mention beautiful views. It has a great par 3 over water followed by two great holes out on the pennisula. An enjoyable course bar when the rain and wind is lashing in off the altantic:D.

When did you last play Kilcock?

Apologies if I offended your home course but I've played it twice & it did nothing for me.
I last played it in 2005 I think.
There was a par 3 , the 3rd I think where you had to walk all the way back to for the next from the same tee box.
There was an internal out of bounds aswell which never appeals to me.

Anyway, my home courses are Tullamore GC & Esker Hills if you want to critique.

No offence taken. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It has changed beyond recognition having been redesigned by Eddie Connaughton in 2008. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised if you get a chance to play it this year.

As for your courses, Both are fantastic tracks which I play on a regular basis as I have family based in Kilbeggan

For me its got to be Glenmalure or Slievenamon
Neither of them worth playing and take from what is supposed to be enjoyed

FRANKFIELD on the outskirts of Cork City. amazing views but absolutly nothing else going for it. All 18 holes on the side of a serious hill.

amazing views? up to recently the view was of the dump :p Haven't played since.

They have the best driving range in Cork though imo

couldn't agree more, in fact it's the best range i've played.

as for the course you'd be better of with a bag full of baseball bats.

The best golf course would obviously be the one in Dublin excluding women!Portmarnock Golf Club,a little piece of Saudi Arabia in Ireland..

It's a tie between Hazel Grove and Dublin Mountain GC.

Admittedly I've never played Dub Mountain but I drive by it most days and having looked across from South Couty GC... it looks utterly depressing and desolate :pac: No wonder the membership is so cheap.

Lepordstown is bad, but nowhere near as bad as the 2 courses I mentioned above.

It may be a bit rough but there is holes there which are a bit special... The Par 5 starting on the peninsula and finish on the main land..

If anything it is not boring...

I have to agree. Incredible transformation and some cracking approaches to the revamped greens.

IMO there is only one answer to this question. Just this week I heard a rumour that Townley Hall was open again. Very Scarey !!

In the Dublin area, Sillogue is the worst I've played...

    Ballymote deserves a mention...truly awful !
