Can't get analogue since HD box installed, is this normal?

I was always able to view analogue while I had the Digital+ box, handy when recording two channels at the same time and I like to read teletext. I have the Digital+HD box now. It's connected by hdmi cable to tv, coax cable from wall to box and just the power plug. Is there something simple I'm overlooking. The only thing I can see that's different is the old coax cable had to be changed for the new one they supplied with the HD box or it wouldn't work, which surprised me.It was a self install. Anyone?

There is no RF out on the HD box you will need a splitter to receive analogue.

Use a splitter to split the cable into two, before the cable goes into the HD box.

Can someone elaborate please, this is gone over my head. Woman here! :D Is there a photo of what goes where? Is the cable I need the same as the one that went to the HD box but I connect it to the tv? Have splitter I think. Sorry if this seems a dumb question and thanks for the replies.

Plug out the HD feed from the wall, plug in a Y splitter, plug the HD feed into one port of the y splitter.

Get a length of coax cable with a coax plug at each end, and plug one end into the other port of the y splitter, and the other end into the aerial socket at the back of the TV.

    Should bring your analog back.

I wouldn't advise using the cheap plug in Y splitter. It could lead to signal break up on the HD box . Best thing to do is give UPC a call. But if you feel like giving it a go It should look something like the image below. The side of the split were the hand is goes to the outlet box on the wall, while the two outputs go to the TV and HD box.

Thats a much beter setup. The Y splitter worked for me, but I dont have HD, just standard digital.

Thank you so much guys, got it sorted through your suggestions. Dingdong the pics were more than helpful, I had that same splitter. Everything's now set up perfectly with my fantastic new Full HD tv :D I'm so happy, the difference is truly amazing through HDMI. Another thing I noticed was on the packaging that the HD box came in it said 80 hours recording but on the website it states up to 120 hours, strange.

What special about that splitter. Is it just the connection? screw type instead of push on?

it's more than likely impeadance balanced so that you aren't loosing any power when spliting your signal

If UPC do it, do they effectively charge you as though it were a second analogue point being installed or what? I've seen threads on this here before but no one could conclusively say that installing extra UPC points by yourself was breaking terms and conditions or indeed even constituted cable theft.

How do you know if its impeadance balanced? So I'd need a 2nd point installed in the same point to use my existing Analog DVR if I got digital. On reflection, perhaps this is against the rules, in which case. I'll just stop asking about it now.

UPC dont charge as it's in their favour to have some service to you should the digital decoder break or their be a fault affecting digi in your area
