    I'd never use it properly (just mentioning it on it's own to acknowledge it's existance hardly counts.....). Interestingly, the only Irish person i've ever actually heard using it meaningfully was the driver of a taxi i once got....

    I wouldn't say it myself. It sounds a very harsh term to my ears and I see it as disrespectful/insulting.

    But I wouldn't tell other people not to. That's just my take on it and if other people don't see it as an insulting phrase then I guess that's ok as long as they're not offending anyone.

    It was used in a derogatory way for so long it is now tarnished by it's association and by using that word you are seen to be associating yourself with the racists, it's just how language works like how cunt is offensive to some but vagina wouldn't be.

    It also depends on where you are. Calling Japanese poeple japs is a big no but I don't think Japanese people settled in other countries find it offensive.

    I think it's silly to have the results hidden. Hide who vote what way, that's fair enough but what's the point in a poll if no-one can see the end result- ie the general consensus.

    It's not my thread sure.

    No, what I am saying is that where you start a Poll, the Default is that the results are hidden.

    It's up to whoever starts the thread to check the option to make the Poll results "Public".

    I have forget to check the option myself a few times.

    There are some words I would not use, even to myself, and 'n.....' is one of them. Then again, I don't call black Americans 'African Americans'. James Brown released an album called 'Say it Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud!' He never said 'I'm African American and proud.'

    hahaha. Stuff like that makes me laugh. :D My mates all say it to me and it doesn't bother me. Some don't care for the word so I don't use it around them. Even if someone was to use it in a bad way, I've heard it all my life and past the point of it either bothering me. I spew out some bad stuff for all colours as jokes but they know i'm not serious loike. They want a reaction and I don't give them one :P.
