seriously, does this really need to be turned into a United vs Pool debate? Honestly?

Neville isn't as good as he used to be, he lacks what little pace he once had and this is shown up badly by wingers.

However, I do think Mr Alan is being very harsh in saying he is horendous. He isn't. He was shockingly bad when he first returned from injury, last season, but he did put in some decent/good performances earlier this season. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not horendous. I wouldn't have him at first choice, but he is a decent back up and that is all we require of him at this point.

you don't lose the ability to cross a ball. its everything else he's lost. as neville himself says, there's no room for passengers, and that's wat he is now.

he simply hasnt lost everything else, he has lost a couple of yards of pace alright, he has gained a wealth of experience, his positioning is great, no problem with his tackling, or passing. he isnt afraid to put his head in

and he is our fourth choice right back now

what more do you want from a 4th choice player?

you being a liverpool fan pretty much voids your opinion on all things Neville related anyway if you are being really honest

who is turning it into a united/liverpool debate?

oh hang on i saw the post

there is no need for this to be a liverpool united debate, i bring up Mr.Alan being a liverpool fan as it has relevance to how he will view Gary Neville

Thats all from my point of view

To say he is horrendous is a joke, regardless of who you support, he more then capable of doing the job he is required for

ok i didn't realise i couldn't have an opinion on a player cause of who i support, or without people slating Liverpool quite randomly. I'll leave you's to your circle jerk.

    where is the circle jerk?

who has said Neville is the best in the world or something outlandish?

you have made the only outlandish statement about him and were pulled up on it

If you arent even willing to admit that your view of him will be coloured by the fact that you are a pool fan then we may as well just give up

He was the first punk ever to set foot on this earth.
He was a genius from the day of his birth.
He could play the piano like a ring and a bell
    And ev'rybody screamed:
    Come on, Nevilles horrendous.
He was a superstar, he was dynamite and whatever he did (it)
    Seemed to be alright.
And he drank (and) he cursed and he fooled around
But when the women would shout:
    Nevilles horrendous,
    Horrendous, Horrendous, Horrendous,
    Horrendous, Horrendous, Horrendous,
    Oh oh oh Horrendous.
With a bottle of wine in one hand and a woman in the other
'Cause he was a ladies man
He never stopped to worry what the next day would bring
    Because the girls would sing:
    Nevilles horrendous,
    etc...
His mind was on rock and roll and having fun
Because he lived so fast he had to die so young.
But he made his mark in history.
    Still ev'rybody says:
    Nevilles horrendous

Whatever happened to going out at the top? Neville risks tarnishing his whole career by hanging on now. Believe it or not, being able to run is quite important for a full back. He was a great player, great servant to the club and I'm sure there's a place for him on the coaching staff, but in the interest of stability I'd like him to to retire from playing and more importantly the captaincy. If he wants to hang around and play Carling Cup matches and against weak teams to earn a few more medals, that's on him. But he should at least retire the armband.

As for a voice in the dressing room and all that piss, sure wasn't there some story about him having no respect from the younger players over the Tevez incident?

Every single sentence in this post is either totally factually inaccurate or a gross exaggeration of the truth.

As such I have no interest in dissecting it or arguing with you.

Nice little tidbit from www.footbal365.com for those who say United are a one man team
A one-man team? Though observers of their relatively poor display at Wolves would argue otherwise, the statistics declare that Manchester United cope just fine, if not better, without Wayne Rooney. They've won the last eight matches he has missed, with October's 2-1 win over Bolton accounting for the other league game this season that he was absent for, and United have lost just six of the 61 games he has sat out since his arrival at Old Trafford in August 2004. It's a statistic that perhaps only proves that statistics can be misleading, but United's win percentage is actually slightly higher for the matches Rooney has missed than it is for the games he has played in.

    lies, damn lies, and statistics.

We may have won yesterday, but we never looked threatening imo. It was a poor performance. Maybe it would have been the same with Rooney in the side, but I reckon we would have looked better.

    Agreed they were sh*t.

But these are the dirty wins that win you titles, hopefully.

you seem to be mistaking the Pini Zahavi bid that fans only heard about last night, for the Red Knights bid that has been met with cautious optimism.

I never named any group but Red Knights or this agents group are all the same to me, they are no different than the Glazers , they see an opportunity to make a lot of money out of the Club and are using the that's can't see the bigger picture as pawns to excert pressure on the current owners. I don't trust them just like I didn't trust the Glazers before they took over, three years on I'm not as fearful of the Glazers as I am of these secretive prospective owners.

Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak is not sure how long he is prepared to wait for first team football at Old Trafford.

The Pole's patience in competing with youngster Ben Foster to be Edwin van der Sar's understudy is wearing thin, and he's warned Red Devils' manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he could be heading for the exit.

"I don't know how much longer I can stay on the bench," the 27-year-old told The People.

"I have waited for four years and I enjoy my time here [at Manchester United], but maybe I need to change it.

"I want to stay with Sir Alex [Sir Alex Ferguson] because he is a great manager and we will try to find a solution because I am not happy to sit on the bench any more."

Kuszczak inists it was never his intention to spend his career as an understudy and feels he must now take significant steps forward.

"I have always said if I feel I am not developing any more I will have to change something and that moment has arrived," he added.

"I want to win things and I think I've proved I am good enough to be No. 1 at United."

That's him gone in the summer anyway, disappointing in one way because he's not a bad No 2 keeper, better than foster imo.

Disappointing indeed, its hard to find a reasonably safe pair of hands that's happy to stay on the bench for most of the season. Foster would worry me quite a bit as number 2, I've lost faith in him.

you were talking about the agents and saying the fans were welcoming them. This simply was not true.

I'm prepared to see what any perspective buyers plan - I already know the Glazers are screwing the club over completely, so I'm more than happy to have a look at what others may plan. What the Glazers are doing now was always their plan. Their plan was always to saddle the club with a massive amount of debt that the club board itself said was unworkable. So, quite frankly, I'd like to know what other people would plan. I'll not be supporting just any bid at all, but I certainly don't support the ownership of the Glazers.

In fairness, and by the way I think the whole one man team thing is bs, what you have posted doesnt really help to contradict the view. Only 2 of those games were this season (against relatively weak opposition) and in previous seasons we had Ronaldo.

The fans actions are helping these groups by pressuring the current owners when in realty United fans have **** all to be complaining about.

Who are the Red Knights? Have they the money to buy United and if so where diid they get it. Will they have to pay it back. Don't bother answering because you dont know and it's immaterial because Michale Knighton hit the nail on the head in the article linked earlier.
Knighton said: "Even when you are talking in terms of £1 billion or £2 billion, Manchester United is massively under-valued, and the Glazers are no fools. They know that you do not sell an asset like Manchester United unless needs must.
"United are the Disney of the sporting world because of the sheer power and value of their brand. They are Coca-Cola, Microsoft, IBM. When you have such a prized asset, you simply do not sell it.
"The takeover of Cadbury by Kraft earlier this year was done at a figure of around £11 billion and, although you would not compare Cadbury and United like for like, the reality is that United's brand name is equally powerful and the Glazers have no reason to sell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

if there is to a takeover attempt, i would need to know alot about the details before i would give my support to it and i would hope all united fans would do their homework before commiting just because they want the Glazers out

not likely i know, but would you want a situation like is happening with the Pompey ownership at our club

When VDS was out I honestly believe PIG earned the No.1 shirt. He has his faults but he's never going to become a world class keeper sitting on the bench. He deserves to be playing week in week out.

The only decent goalkeeper happy to sit on the bench has been Carlo Cudicini. When he lost his place at Chelsea there were only 4/5 better players in his postion in the league imo. PIG should really wait till VDS retires next year but maybe he thought that would happen this year. He hasnt proved he is good enough as No.1 yet going by the Leeds game.

You're talking out of you're arse or you can't read. There were no innacurate facts and there were 2 exaggerations:
    1) The implication that Neville can't run. (He can run, just not at a competitive speed)
    2) Neville was a great player. (He was a good right back with a good cross, not great.)

My post was spot on the mark, and you couldn't argue with hence the old "As such I have no interest in dissecting it or arguing with you" line.

he is never going to be world class, cause he doesn't have it in him. Good shot stopper, terrible on crosses and poor command of the area. When VDS was out he did enough to cement his place as number 2, never never 1 though. VDS has shown since he came back just how big the gulf in standard is.

Kuszczak is just not a good enough keeper to be first choice at a top club. He wouldn't be first choice at a top club (well, he'd prob get in ahead of Almunia) and he shouldn't be first choice at United. If his ultimatum is that he is first choice or we sell him, then buh-bye Tommy, imo.
