What the hell is wrong with the PC suites?

These have to be the worst, slowest pieces of crap I've ever come across.
Just took me 40minutes to log in, save 1 pdf from blackboard and open it. I can't even get the damn thing printed yet, which is all I came in here for. The PCs are shockingly slow to do anything here, it's not just the internet connection. I really wish they'd install a wireless printer somewhere so I can print from my laptop in a tenth of the time, and buying print credit wouldn't have been a total waste

Ours are terrible slow in Aras Moyola. The guy 'Michael' who works for computer services pops in and out now and then an checks out god know what on them and then acts surprised when we tell him how slow they are

The computers in the Arts Millenium Building always work fine for me, never had any problems there

I've noticed as well that the PC's are very slow this past week or 2.
It took me almost 30 mins the last day to log in:mad:

Why the hell would you spend 30-40 minutes trying to log in if I can't log in in under 10 i try another one.

I was in the Arts Millenium and it was only 8am with no-one else in there. After about 10 minutes like you said I turned on another 3 PC's but it still took 30 mins. Like I said, I was the only one there but I would've been fecked if it had been later in the day when the place is packed.

That said, I only wanted some bb notes and could do without. I definitely wouldn't leave it to chance if I had a nb assignment to print out and hand in. You'd really need to be sorted a day or two beforehand and not be too reliant on the PC's in the college:(

Install the print client, print to either colour/monochrome release and then go to the print collection room: http://www.nuigalway.ie/cs/students/wireless/wireless_printing.html

As ethernet said, this already exists!
    Info here: http://www.nuigalway.ie/cs/students/wireless/wireless_printing.html

There's a few different locations you can print (release) your document. Do people actually not know about this? I ask because one of this SU election candidates had this as one of his promises for the coming year...:confused:

Wow, it does work now. And the difference is I'm in college on the NUIGWiFi network. Those crafty foxes

    Problem #2:
Important: The service does not currently support laptops running Windows 7 and 64 bit operating systems
That's two strokes against me then. Damn you ISS.

I posted my link at twenty to one in the morning. Trust me when I say that I was at home when I did that.

Finnegan Suite's machines can be horrendous, especially when trying to find one that works for a CAD exam. The ones out in Nun's Island always worked fine.

Try hitting ctrl alt del when you first see the desktop.
Load task manager and go to the "processes" tab.
Scroll down until you see "windows search agent" or something like it.
Right click the process and select "kill process". click ok.
