hey hey ,

well have been riding a friends fixie for acouple of months now i thought it was time i shud get my own and give it back , so i got myself a nice bike in need of some tlc

first things first , the bike , i cant find any info on it. when i got it it had townsend on the side and front and after doing some internet searches all i can come up with is some u.s. based company that only started acouple of years ago which obviously isnt it because its a 70's or 80's bike and i know that its been siting in my mates shed for about 20 years and has me really stumped
and the 2nd thing is im looking to get a rear wheel laced, i want to keep the original size 27 x 1 1/4 and get it laced to a flip flop hub, ive tred the 700c wheels on it and they just dont look wright to me because its a massive frame eventhough theres only 10mm in the difference ,

so basicly im just looking somewhere to get it done in dublin, and just looking for a round about price in getting it done ,

any info would be an amazing help , happy cycling

you can get 27 1/4 iso630 wheels on ebay from the Uk,

I have an old Raleigh racer with 58cm frame that Im converting to a fixie, when I stripped it and bought parts I didnt realise the wheels were an old size, it really limits your selection.

ah cheers thats a big help might just fire off an email now, i wounder will there be problems with spacing and with the chain line.
youd think with the demand somebody out there would be making them

it says 110mm which is strange for a back wheel, thought its usually between 120-130mm, you'd have to check into that

take the rim off your existing back wheel then have it rebuilt by chewie (from cultured which is now gone but i think he'll still build a wheel for you) for either 25-30 i cant remember which, using one of these hubs http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Rear_231.html

that should come to about 50 quid for a rear wheel which is pretty good. i suppose it all depends on whether chewie is still building wheels or whether you can find someone else to build it for you for a reasonable price though.

110mm was standard rear spacing back in the day btw. it's still used on some njs hubs too i think
