No, you can send as much as you want and the server chops it up into 160 character chunks (or 1000 characters for O2)

and cabbage is the first one I have downloaded. This nexus one really is a tidy piece of tech.

However let me just say how fantastic this cabbage app is. My gratitude to the lads who created it and fair play on your skills. Is there somewhere to donate a few quid to whoever did this work. Doesnt seem right that it is free. I know apps aint really expensive anyway but all the same...

Hi guys,
Just fixed a few of the bugs.
Can any one test this on android 1.5 or 1.6 or 2.0..

The fix for the filtering the address book to only use the phone number contacts MAY only work on android 2.1 and would like to confirm it works before putting it up on the market place.

bugs fixed:

- Auto Capitalisation of a new sentence and automatic grammar like Android has (e.g ill to I'll / dont to don't / recieve to receive)

- Ability to send past the 160 character limit (like in all the other Cabbage versions).

- Error message removing sms message text

If you remove the filename from the URL, you can see there is a file called Cabbage.apk (http://78.153.209.186/cabbage/Cabbage.apk). The datestamp is last Friday though....

If you have adb installed, try repeat what you did with the phone plugged in via usb and collect logs. This just like an exception you get in Java, you won't know what it is until you see some error or stack trace.

Also are you rotating the phone to change layout to landscape/portait while its doing something? e.g A ProcessDialog can cause a force close here if instance states aren't handled correctly.

Hey ryderster - thanks for the excellent app. Question for you, one of my contacts has two mobile numbers 085 and 087 and when I select him it always chooses the 087 number - is there a way to select the 085? Cheers.

Just wondering if what version of android your running,
1.5, 1.6,2.0 or 2.1
this can be found in settings, about phone and then model number and firmware version

regarding the 085 number, ill add it on my list of bugs and get around to it as soon as i can, problz be the weekend before i get a chance to look at it doh...

Sorry I left out that info! I'm using the Nexus One, firmware 2.1 update1. Ah no worries there's no rush at all. Previous to this version when I selected this contact neither of his numbers would appear so it's defo an improvement for me.

Ah i think its cause android 1.5..

for the address filter i am not using the Contacts.People anymore...
Just wanted to see if it would work.

Should have said, you can load a tool called LogCat on your phone to collect and email logs.

Anyways you can collect via pc if you run "adb logcat"
Or use the DDMS tool that comes with the SDK+drivers.

Either way, just run the adb, cause the force close and you should have logs.

Also if rydester has has debug info, it should be seen here.

I may try it with the new code and catch the exception which is called for the android 1.5 etc..

I've given it a quick run through on my Nexus (v2.1) and its solved the issues I had with the previous version. Names are only showing up once now and selecting a name populates the field with the number.

Tried to fix the issue with the contact list with certain numbers being duplicated. But I am afraid I personally cant get that to work in android 1.5 or 1.6.

Also fixed the the auto type and one touch clear text.

As well as the 160 + characters.

If anyone with android 1.5 or android 1.6 to see if this works.

It should do.

I am going to focus on the top 10 texted numbers functionality next
and the sent messages items.

Is the above version specific to android 1.5/1.6 or just the latest build for all? Just tried it out on the Nexus One and it's gone back to the previous problem of not pulling in certain contacts numbers at all and lists contacts with no numbers. Going back to CabbageV1_08.apk which fixed these.

well it will work with all versions of android but i cant fix the contacts lookup filtering at the moment...scratching my head all last night...

at the moment thinking of making a android 2.0 and above version... but thats the last resort... I have someone who has more experiencing with the platform having a quick look to see if they can get it to work..

going to add the other functionality required first doh...
