    Hi all
I have an old dell laptop (latitude d600) running ubuntu 9.1

    1.2mb ram
    cpu is pentium m 1.4

Should this system be capable of showing youtube videos?

what happens is it starts fine but about 4 or 5 seconds into it the video stops.

is it the cpu thats ausing the prob o something else?
    thanks
    J

Probably your internet connection speed. Try pausing the video, wait for it to download completely, then play.

Well having only 1.2mb of ram isn't gonna help :-p

The problem lies in the very very poor support for flash videos in Linux (ubuntu). Have you tried using the HTML5 version of YouTube?

i only upped it fron 512 yesterday:)

    nope,

just downloading chrome as it dosn't support firefox! then will give it a go.

the stopping happens when streaming stuff from my pc as well. using vlc
