Please vote Louise Feaheny for Ents :):):)

    As a long-standing member of boards.ie :)

I made a jokey kind of post before about the whole "Don't bitch about us debacle", but that was before I realised you were really canvassing here.

I'm not trying to "come out and get you", but I just wonder why you think anyone who posts on this forum think should vote for you after this,
"You all give out about the SU, but what have you done? In case you forgot, the SU is run for students BY students. Tell us what you want us to do! Don't b*tch about it on an online forum."(full post) http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=62732474&postcount=52

    I responded like this;
    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=62752540&postcount=82

And I still feel the same way about the whole thing. You actively ignored not criticism, but constructive criticism and a solution to the problem which was very serious(when there was a spate of attacks around the town)

Along with the fact that you've made 16 posts on this forum in the last 3 and a half months, 15 of which have been today looking for votes. I think this shows that I will not expect our "bitching"(suggestions) on ents to be heard on this forum at least.

Also something else which would not exactly endear me to your politics is this, "I voted no in for the Lisbon, simply because the government told me to vote yes!" .....

Although I hear you are a jolly nice person(honest) and I hope there will be no hard feelings, I will not be voting for you because of these things which have happened in the past.

Good luck in the elections, By the looks of the poll you have a good chance

I do want to apologise, and I did (as far as I know???)
I didn't ignore the criticism, but I went straight to Brian about it, and told them all about the students' opinions on boards.

Because as a non-voting member of the exec, although I have often suggested using boards.ie as a form of communication for the SU I have never had a say in it and it has been shot down a number of times. I'm going to be completely honest, when I logged onto boards today I had no intention of canvassing, merely lurking and having a peep, because as you said I haven't been on in aaaaaaaaages but when I saw the forum open for it, I decided to use it like other people are too.

About the Lisbon thing, I see my political stance as a positive one. Because I am not affiliated with any political party whatsoever, I feel that this allows for a better judgement of what benefits the student body more. My judgement is not clouded by my political views, but rather open to what is best for students and other matters at hand.

Thanks for your good luck wish though, I really do appreciate it. I'm sorry we haven't seen eye to eye before on stuff, but I really do appreciate your comment!

    L x:)

Other than saying 'about the Lisbon thing' you didn't actually mention anything about why you said that.

Tbh I would have severe reservations about voting for someone who not only has such an immature opinion about such a serious topic but who openly admits to it.

I'm really sorry that I came across as being immature about the whole thing, but I had genuine reasons for voting no. I assure you that my judgement was not based wholly on that- it was a joke. Sorry if it wasn't to your taste. :(

    I don't remember it.

In actual fact you recommended that we stop posting about the college su here and posted on the Dead discussion part of the nuim facebook page.
You'd imagine then that we might get some kind of response then, but there wasn't!

Also on the whole Lisbon thing, I really hope that was a joke :(

Can someone explain Declan Meenagh's polling? Holding more Bar Ex's and making the SU carbon neutral don't strike me as matters which really fall under the Finance Officer's remit.

    On the free bar ex,
It costs 300 euro for a licence and 300 euro for staff,
If we had a free bar ex with 3 euro drinks and a theme like 70s, and an exec DJ, we would make money from the bar or at least break even.

On the carbon neutral union, it's something to aim for, and if we could let a geography student do a project on it then we could make an impact.

In general, there isn't a lot in the remit:

    11.4 FINANCE OFFICER
    (a) Shall ensure that the accounts for the Union are maintained satisfactorily, and are presented to the Union Council at least once per year.
    (b) Shall advise the Union Council on the financial state of the Union.
    (c) Shall have the right to examine all requisition forms and cheque books at any time in liaison with the Student Activities Officer.
    (d) Shall form a liaison with the Executive and in the direction of Union finances.
    (e) In the absence of the Finance Officer, the President shall perform the Finance Officer's duties.
    (f) Shall conduct a price survey comparing Union services to equivalent competing services and present the results to Union Council.

There's not a lot of scope there, so I got creative.

The other two things I want to do are promote special events funding and work with clubs and socs officers to make a sponsorship handbook for clubs and socs.
For more info go to www.declanmeenagh.com
Sorry for the rambling nature of this post, but I'm sleep deprived. :D

I'm loving this campaign at the moment!
Louise Feaheny has my vote 100%, the stuff she has planned for the next year sound awesome! After reading Aengus Ó Maoláin's manifesto and plans for the year, he really does have my vote!Declan Meenagh seems to be the best man for Finance, so I hope he gets it. Also, I think Lydia has the experience to bring the VP education and welfare forward to where it could be. She has done so much since she started in Maynooth, and think she is the best candidate for that role.
Everyone seems to be being quite good natured about the whole thing!
I'm quite new to boards.ie so bear with me!
I'm not sure about VP Comms and Devs, I haven't heard many people campaigning for this.
I'm Louise Feaheny's campaign manager...so look out for us next week!

not so true there. Our apartment got broken into during the week, and all the painting on the windows in support of Pat Byrne (vote PAT for Ents!*), got vandalised to say some offensive stuff about him, and infact another of our housemates.
    Bad form

Ents is getting horribly bitchy this year! Did you find out who had done it? Is it like this every year or is this a first?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 782 ✭✭✭tootyflutty

Actually must agree, great posters there Banquo! Really effective for VP Comms, have two now hanging in our apartment :D

No idea who had done it, but was done in about an hour period when all our housemates were out, so obviously someone was watching to see when they left, they also got in upstairs where the same thing was done.

That'd freak me out if I knew there were people in my apartment! It's getting really immature, like I don't see why candidates should have to spend their time defending themselves or focusing on negativity from others when they need to just work on their own campaign...

I miss the first year elections when we all sat in the room sharing sweets until we felt sick... Why cant everyone be nice!

NOt really much could be done, and only cctv on ground floors. Anywho has only spurred him and all the people in support of him, onb further!
