Hi All,

Just wondering is there any other fellow qualifed advisors out there. If so, where you working, small firm, big 4 etc.

Do you specialise in a particular tax or are you a jack of all trades?

Just curious.

Not quite qualified yet - sitting the finals this year.

Working in a top 20 firm across all tax heads.

Hi all..

Now in a small-medium practice. 20-25 staff, one other tax person here who is my senior.

Qualified in 2005 but currently a jack of all trades and master of none.. :rolleyes:

That's not a bad thing IMO. It's good to have a varied skill set so you have other skills to fall back on especially in times like these.

I think Medium practice is the place to be in the current climate. You'll get a good mix of both worlds big and small and when the time comes you can move to a bigger or smaller firm.

Hey Censuspro,

Yeah its a good point but sometimes you wonder what you should and shouldn't know, e.g. the new Finance Bill is out. Difficult to know that extremely well, in addition to the New Place of Supply Rules for VAT on Services etc.

My senior is a genius who works weekends a lot researching but I am not sure if I can afford such time to read books etc. Same makes me wonder is that completely necessary and I am being negligent. I don't know?

Hey all.

International Tax specialist. Head of Tax for a large multinational - operations/sales in 43 countries. Makes for an interesting challenge.

Spend a lot of time on tax strategy, transfer pricing, M&A, and Revenue Audit defence around the world.

More focused on the corporate world, rather than the income tax world.

Gents/Ladies,

First off, apologies for hijacking your thread.

I'm working in an accountancy role in a telecoms company at the moment but would love to work in tax. The company doesn't have an in house tax department.
I'm starting year 2 of my tax exams later this year after completing the tax technician course.
Has anybody any advice on how I can move disciplines? Its tough studying tax and not getting the experience to compliment my studies. Any advice would be appreciated.
